Okay, I haven't started watching this show yet, but I'm now interested enough that I've started doing research.

I kind of get the feeling that one of the ponies would likely find Earth to be a bit of a Crapsack World in comparison to their own. There's no magic, non-human animals are simple-minded and feral, there are often pointless wars, people are starving to death, and there is a much greater degree of bigotry and hatred.

Is it just me, or did the theme song sound better this week?

Of course, it would probably be at least a little jarring for them to see that ponies on Earth aren't sapient and are essentially domesticated livestock.

Onto other things, I just learned that alvin earthworm {creator of smbz} and deceasedcrab {well-known lets player} Hate mlp fim and bronies. Alvin encoureged his fanboys to attack us and deceasedcrab told one of his fans to kill himself for mentioning the show. It's sad when people you like on youtube and devianart hate you because of your intreasts. I use to like those guys but now....

I find it kind of funny how worked up some people get about MLP:FiM. It's just a cartoon and just a fanbase.

Yeah, I find it wierd how worked up some people get over mlp fim as well. I usually go by "If you don't like it, don't watch it and don't bug people that do like it". Why the 10% of the internet that hates fim can't do that is beyond me. It's ironic that haters call us manchildren when they have the maturity level of children. Something else I find funny is that some of the haters blame the show for their favorite show ending or getting canceld. One hater blamed fim for firefly getting canceld!

I thiiiiink what that person may have meant is that it's unfair somethng with great writing, fun characters and interesting plots like firefly (true) got cancelled halfway through a season while mindless swill like FIM (false) get two, possibly three. Or possibly that firefly got cancelled to make way for things like FIM, but even that is mind-boggling levels of whut.

Sounds plausible. Not having seen the remark in context I'm not going to pass judgement on it.

I think the bulk of the dislike comes from the fandom's pervasiveness, but I seldom see people apply that same standard to fandoms they're actively a part of, so I kind of ignore that argument.

I do think there are legitimate criticisms to be made of bronies (which is partly why I don't usually apply the term to myself; I'm not totally sure what I'm associating myself with when I use it). Mostly they're the same criticisms that could be made of any fandom, though.

I'm willing to tolerate people who don't like the show as long as they A) Have given it a chance / actually WATCHED it. B) Don't hate the fans of it (Fan Hater is a pet peeve of mine, because unless the fanbase is really crazy or hostile or they acknowledge that the crazy side is still just a side of the base, it gives off a huge, "WHY DO YOU LIKE THINGS I DON'T" vibe). C) Aren't huge trolls. D) Don't leave comments that show that they are way too worked up about it, i.e. "I want to bathe in the blood of the pony lovers", an actual quote from a video that had nothing to do with ponies.

Don't get me wrong, Firefly was a great show that didn't deserve to be canceld, but the comment I read still doesn't make sense. I probely should have mentioned it was a youtube comment. Can't remember the video it was on though. Also, I know that there are crazy fans of MLP:FIM, but there are crazy fans of EVERTHING.

I don't think it's unreasonable to avoid something because it doesn't look like your cup of tea, so long as you don't then make a big show about how much you hate it or whine about the fact that other people enjoy it.

Yeah, I know. There are quite a few people who don't like the show that I still watch/listen to or even hang out with. The diffrence between them and the 2 guys I mentioned is that they are NICE about their views.

Yeah, for some reason, if I watch any video, even if it has zero relation to MLP, there are comments complaining about the show.

Like, that's not even avoiding something you don't like, it's bringing attention to it.

If you don't like it, avoid it, and if you say you keep on running into it, just don't comment and mind your own business. And if you do feel the need to comment, please add something more of value than "I hate X" and make me think that Francis found a computer.

I think I'll always keep reading youtube comments, just because every so often, you come across that one that's absolutely brilliant.

um... which one? I've written quite a few. Like, I've got 6 published on Equestria daily, 7 if you consider Feedback/Sing the Night's Song separate fics, and that isn't even everything that I've written. I don't think I've ever stopped pumping out fiction since around march of this year. But, you know, thanks!
