Started watching FIM on Youtube this week; watched the first five episodes so far. My opinion so far is that it's So Okay It's Average - but I'm treating it the same as I would any other show. Also I may be falling victim to Hype Backlash. From the standpoint of a kid's show, it's quite amazing.

Favorite episode so far is the one with Gilda the Griffon.

For a children's show, it's amazing.

For a show for adults, it's okay.

Doesn't stop me from wanting to hug Faust for creating it, though.

Yeah. Exactly.

Edit: Just watched Bridle Gossip, The One With Zukora the zebra. Laughed out loud at "Flutter Guy".[lol]

Holy crap, this show got an award? AWESOME! I never thought that a show about colorful magic horses would get an award, or get my intreast for that matter, but damn was I wrong!

Also, with all the movie refrences in the show, who else thinks that mlp fim might refrence indiana jones at one point?

So I'm watching "Call of the Cutie" (where Apple Bloom can't wait for her cutie mark). Is it just me or is it a metaphor for breast envy? In particular, "[My new outfit] totally shows off my new cutie mark."

Or is this just my randy 19-year-old self talking?

It's not just you. More generally, it's a metaphor for puberty and the perceived "maturity" that comes with it. Boobs and period for the girls, facial hair, muscle and penis development for the guys (though Call of the Cutie is more made with girls in mind, for obvious reasons). There's also the obvious symbolism of finding one's niche in life and the search for identity.

Another Finnish brony meetup is planned in Helsinki in 17.12. This time they've rented an indoor space for it, which would kind of sort of make it the first ever KPoniCon. If we've got any Finnbronies here I'm not aware of, check it out.

[up][up] I forget where I saw it, but there was a picture of Dash with a really smug look saying "ever go so fast you gave all your friends puberty?"

I just watched a few mlp fim episodes after watching the godfather part 1.Now I want to write a dark alternate universe fanfic with the charecters as mobsters. Any one else get a wierd feeling like that before?

Judging by the amount of grimdark FIM fanfic in existence, the answer is a resounding "yes."

Hi all. Just joined the herd a couple of weeks ago.

And now, after years of silence, I'm writing OC fan fiction.

Is this normal?

I would totally write fan fiction if I were more confident in my ability of writing a text in literary English of tolerable quality.

Gah, why couldn't Italian become the standard international language instead? tongue

[up] What if you collaborated with an English-speaking person?

[up][up]Honestly man, your English is a heck of a lot more fluent than a hell of a lot of native writers. Maybe pick up a beta reader to catch the occasional hiccup.

Also I've been having trouble sleeping lately so I decided to inflict the same on all of you. Enjoy.

[up][up]Eh, perhaps. That's not a bad idea — I collaborated with a friend on a couple of short stories in the past, and it was an interesting experience. smile

[up] Thanks! smile Perhaps I might just try and see what happens — who knows, at the very least it would be something amusing to do, no matter the quality (or lack thereof) of the result.

Yeah, I had no idea you didn't speak english first. And to be perfectly frank, rare are the people, even among the english speaking world, who can speak it well.

Sorry kegi.

If you'd rather we can talk about slash fiction or something.

That was my point: there's no reason for Kegis to have to avoid the forum as long as people continue that practice.
