In the latest episode, "Magic Kindergaten" reminded me of 4th grade so much it was almost traumatic.

...Is there any chance you could link to all of them? I remember reading one or two of yours and thinking it was really good.

Well Kegi, your fanfic I read was "The color you bleed". I was the one who kept asking you about it. I didn't expect you to remember, so I'm not offended at all.

So what do you think is gonna happen in the halloween episode with luna? Alot of people keep thinking that it'll make a stealth refrence to cupcakes, luna game, story of the blanks or other darkfics, but I HIGHLY doubt that, for logical reasons.

I think they'll want to steer well clear of referencing that part of the fandom.

Like I said, I highly doubt that they will refrence those for logical reasons, like the one you just said.

I wouldn't mind a Story of the Blanks reference (Maybe as some scary story that Applebloom tells to her friends). The others, however, are something the show should stay as far away as possible.

...Yeah, they really just shouldn't reference the fandom at all, if you ask me.

Maybe a few silent nods (like the prevalence of Derpy, for example), but that's it.

I like when shows reference fandom. A lot. Providing the reference isn't something that's going to confuse people unfamiliar with whatever's referenced, and providing it's appropriate for the programme.

Cupcakes, for obvious reasons, is not appropriate.

@marston: Oh, right, I remember that now. I guess I should have been tipped off by the "so far", shouldn't I?

@Bunny: Sure thing!

Feedback and Sing the Night's Song (The sequel to Feedback) are there - A shipfic between Scratch and Ziggy Stardust, one of the bouncers from Green isn't you Colour.

They Never Fall Far, in which Big Macintosh gets to have dinner with his favourite author.

The True King and On Waffles, a pair of shorts that I did when I got bored.

Patchwork, a story about Caramel running away from home because he doesn't want to be a farmer anymore.

My Time Among Clothes Hangers, a m/m shipping fic between Pokey Pierce and Ace, and also the story of how Pokey comes out of the closet.

And finally, The Colour You Bleed, in progress, the story of Blueblood as he finds himself in an unfriendly neighboring country, being shaped into a good person by an ex-solider.

whoo... that sure was a lot of shilling, right there. here, have something better than what I've done to balance it out.

You, ah, may not want to watch it if you dislike sad stuff.

Agreed. I love story of the blanks even though it was too short, Fucking luna game gave me nightmares, and cupcakes was just plain wierd and a little gross. Why the hell people think those are gonna get refrenced is WAY beyond me. Yeah, I'm real sure that mlp fim will refrence a gory fanfic, a screamer game series, and a well made if short grimdark fangame. Makes a whole lotta sense, doesn't it?

The frequent use of cupcakes in the show does seem a little suspicious, but just having actual cupcakes pop up is a very, very innocuous thing. Like, a kid is just gonna think "oh hey, a minor obsession with tasty things, awesome", and an older fan familiar with fanbase antics is gonna think "DAMMIT FAUST AAAAAAA".

Doesn't seem suspicious to me, just seems like Pinkie's Trademark Favorite Food or something.

I mean, she had an entire damn song about them.

But no, I didn't mean that cupcakes themselves weren't appropriate, obviously, only that a reference to the meme wouldn't be appropriate.

Aw kegi, the video you shared made me cry! But the ending cheered me up from both the rest of the video and the things I talked about a few posts earlier, so thanks.

Also, I kinda think that the fandom overeacts to cupcakes. Sure, it's gory, a little disturbing and wierd, but honestly there are WAY worse fanfics you can find out there that haven't affected as many people as cupcakes.

Alright, I kind of have a question: have any of the ponies ever been shown eating any sort of meat?

Every time I see any kind of food in the show (though admittedly I've only seen the first couple episodes aside from some clips), it's almost always fruit, vegetables, or some sort of dessert.

I'd assume that the characters, being ponies, are herbivores. Add that to the fact that a few other animal species are shown to be sapient, and it's not to hard for me to assume that meat could be considered cannibalism, though I really haven't seen enough to know for sure.
Can you cool it with the Karn puns, Zennistrad? No problem. They were kinda Karny anyway.

♫ Both our diets, I should mention, are completely vegetarian! ♪

Applejack is seen at a table with what looks like a ham sandwich in front of her at one point, and Pinkie Pie makes reference to hot dog eating contests in another episode. Apart from that, they're only ever depicted eating fruit, grasses and vegetable-based foods.

Oh, there's also the question of marshmallows, which could potentially be literal cannibalism, though traditionally marshmallows were vegetarian.

Sweet Apple Acres raises pigs for unspecified reasons. Cows too, but at least one can think of non-meat reasons why.
