Future's so bright, I gotta wear shades
OK, I saw the new episode. Some spoilery comments follow:
- I was completely wrong about the Luna guess. Oh well.
- The first part of this new episode, up to and included mass-spammer-Celestia, was really quite enjoyable. Discord is an excellent villain, and Chaos!Poniville was pretty cool.
- The last part and the ending, however, were ridiculously rushed. I mean, come on — Twilight using her magic to mindrape (or de-mindrape, or whatever) her friends? And then Discord staying there like a chump while the mane 6 do their obligatory short speech on the value of friendship and then blast him with their magical beam? And then the same beam somehow repairing all the damage that Discord had done? What is this, Sailor Moon?

Yeah, the letter idea was good. But using a magic spell to restore the memories (and, in the case of most of the mane 6, off screen) felt cheap as hell. I think that this episode would have been much better if it had been split into two, and if Twilight had restored these memories through non-magical means.

Actually, I think the humanized Rainbow Dash is cuter in that picture...

Yeah, except that these characters have depth so there's actual drama to the meaning and weight of their friendships.
