I don't get it. I've never seen Jackie Chan Adventures.

I'd say that the original has better characterization for Charlie and Wonka, but the remake has better characterization for everyone else.

@Perpetual: Yeah, I have fond memories of that show.

And yeah, I really can't see any reason for Hasbro to can the show at this point, given that it's probably bringing in more publicity than just about anything else. The only reason I could think of would be if they're starting a sequel series or something.

There was a show called Sonic Underground that ended on 65 episodes and its main story never got resolved. Then again, FIM doesn't have an overarching story and I'm sure SU did horribly in the ratings department, considering it's So Bad, It's Good at most. Then again SWAT Kats and Sonic SatAM did very well but were cancelled anyway. So it's entirely possible they'll pull the plug after 65. N-NOT THAT I HAVE EVER WATCHED ANY OF THOSE THREE SHOWS.

@story Well, you should watch it when you get the chance. It's pretty clever.

[down]Yeah.

Why am I so repetitive? I'm doing the same thing I mercilessly bash other writers for and didn't even realize it.

From what I remember Sat Am was cancelled due to a number of things (poor ratings due to it's bad slot, the current head in charge insisting all cartoons only go for a two season duration max, being outdone by Power Rangers). Ao Sth lasted only one season, but said season was over 60 episodes long as well. I thought Underground lasted 40 or so.

I don't think Fi M will quite go down the same way, it's much more of a cash cow than said shows (the Sonic shows got popularity, but were cult favorites at best). If it's cancelled it will likely either be due to the team deciding it's done it's course or milking it till viewers are sick of it.

@Story: Have you no heart?:

There was one like that on msn messenger plus or something like that, but I couldn't find it on google images.

Man, Gamma's death is probably the only thing in a Sonic game that has ever elicited an emotional reaction from me. Bittersweet Ending to the max.

[up]Reach for the Stars has gotta be the saddest thing I've experienced in a Sonic game. Second is the last cutscene in Sonic Adventure 2.

The ending of Sonic Adventure 2 would have, but Tails's "WE ALL DID IT TOGETHER" ruined it for me. Probably the single corniest line in a Sonic game. Oh wait.

SWAT Cats was cancelled becuase Ted Turner personally hated the show, had nothing to do with ratings or popularity. And yeah, no suit in his right mind, even by exec standards, would cancle a show this big, a few months after cranking a hype machine up this much.

[up][up][up][up]I think it's one of the few Sonic deaths that wasn't up it's own ass. The franchise has a bad habit of being very pretentious when trying to be dramatic or dark and usually heaping in a whole load of anime or sci fi cliches that don't fit with a cartoon hedgehog fighting a mad scientist at all.

Gamma on the other hand was just taking the badnik concept of the original games and giving it a tragic tint. He wasn't some Stoic rival with an angsty past or some rebel in a dystopian world, he was a quirky robot with a little bird inside him.

Granted that theme doesn't help either.

I wonder what the saddest video game death in games I've played was. Maybe that one girlfriend Tasen in Iji.

Funny how Sonic is cornier than Friendship Is Magic. FIM ain't all that corny (at least not to painful levels) but the Sonic series overfloweth with corndoggery.

[up][up]Fi M is corny, but in a deliberate sense, and makes it work for humor and personality value. Sonic often is trying to take itself seriously and so the corniness is more annoying (though more humorous works like Aosth go in and out).

When you really think about it, it's the corny whimsical nature that gives a lot of characters true personality in both works, just often Sonic tries to dilute it and makes accidental non-fun cheesiness instead.

I can't pinpoint an exact one, but your girlfriend's death in inFAMOUS really caught me by surprise. Another one is Alister Azimuth from Ratchet and Clank ACIT.

[up]I dunno, Sonic Colors was pretty FiM-like in it's corniness.

Saddest video game death...

Nanami from Suikoden 2 comes to mind.

Also Nanako from Persona 4, but it only stays permanent in a bad ending.
