Does anyone else think this thread neads a THE PUN HAS BEEN DOUBLED reaction image?

[up][up][up][up]Colors was a better step, but some of the humor made me cringe, it doesn't handle self referencial stuff as well as Fi M, which is more subtle and clever. The DS version was better though, although maybe because there were no voice overs.

Most of Eggman and his droids humor was funny though. In fact Eggman is a redeeming point in nearly all versions of the franchise due to mastering Ham and Cheese.

Saddest video game death? Well, I suck at using spoiler text, but I will say that their is one particular death scene in Red dead redemption that really got to me......

[up]Agreed.

All I can think of is really corny deaths, like in Age of Mythology or Read Alert 2. There's probably lots in something like Heavy Rain but I haven't played it.

MLP:FIM is corny in the way that sharing a touching moment with a friend is corny. It's corniness is overloaded by the heartwarmingness. Well, except for the times when it's just plain corny.

I would say Curly in Cave Story but I never actually experienced that since I was warned ahead of time to save her.

If visual novels count as games, then I'd probably fill half this list with what people would call the saddest deaths in video game history. There's a reason why people like Utsuge games.

The only VN I've played is Katawa Shoujo and nooone really dies except Hisao. Though some of the bad ends are really sad.

Evening folks. Interestingly, the film adaption of John Carter of Mars wasn't as terrible as I had been led to believe.

I think it wasn't so much terrible as that everyone made fun of it for osing money thanks to terrible marketing.

Yeah the marketing department really dropped the ball. But I got what was expecting from an adaptation of a pulp novel. A fun ride. Willem Defoe did an excellent job in it, too. That certainly helped in my eyes.

Saddest death? Well the last time I cried was during a school related scene of a school play (If any of you fellow Americans have heard of Ticking... My graduating class wrote that thing. and my god does it hit the chest)

Apocalypse: Dirge Of Swans.

I've never heard of it. But I thought we were talking about videogames.

Saddest death outside video games? Definitely Nia's in Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, since I didn't see it coming.

@Story: Well, the ones I'm thinking of were usually the ones that would get anime adaptations... then usually follow the saddest route possible to squeeze the tears out.

@Story unsurprising I doubt it left the midwest.

In videogames I put General Leo's death as the saddest. And rage inducing.

Saddest death outside video games?

For me it was Rachel in Animorphs. Though Euphemia comes close.

Saddest video game death? Hm. I can't remember the last time I cried in response to a video game, actually.

Outside of video games, I guess I'd say the death of the primary character from All Across the Western Front. Or the death of the lead character from The Mysterious Flame of Queen Loana. Or the deaths of the dogs in Where the Red Fern Grows.

Never actually cried for a video game death. But some of them gave me feels.

I'm trying to remember a death that saddened me to the core, but I'm probably one of the more tougher tropers, who managed not to cry but have a Heroic BSOD instead. In fact, I nearly cried to a Derpy Drama video if you could believe that. Yeah. I cry for a fandubbed character that only had background cameos, and yet when someone actually dies in a show, I don't feel all that bad...

Though one of the closest was Asuna's death in the first Negima Anime. The ending after it is what hurts the most.

Oh wait, I just remembered that Texan guy in The Subtle Knife. I didn't actually cry, but he and Rachel made me come close.

Like I said earlier, I cried when Mordin died in Mass Effect. That whole scene was just masterfully done.

To break my segregation of Fiction and reality is extremely difficult on most occasions. I can count on one hand the number of times that I have cried because of a work of fiction (That I know of) and only once in the last four years.
