@ Purple: Where did I say it did? It's possible for both sides to be in the wrong.

Course, my personal fanon is that Blueblood acts like that to throw off mares like Rarity but I'd never use that as evidence.

@Mio, I figured her behavior in Sweet and Elite and her reaction to the fact that Twilight was from Canterlot was a major enough clue that "Yeah, She's in it for the improved social status" I mean she had a song about.

That doesn't excuse Blueblood being a total jackass.

Honestly, I'd say it kind of does, if he was actually acting that way just to get her to leave him alone. But it's pretty obvious that was his actual personality, so they were both acting horribly that night.

@Applelight: I dunno? The mother was a weird little dog that we initially thought was a German Shepherd but never grew very big and ended up looking kind of like a plump coyote. I literally found her in a gutter so I don't know what she actually is (probably a mutt). And since I have no idea who the father of these puppies is... they're mutts basically. They're pretty cute though. One of them is white and brown like a cow.

@Bad I agree that both sides were somewhat in the wrong but I don't think Rarity wanted to marry him to become a princess. She probably wanted to marry him because, well, it would be romantic.

@Mousa: I'd kinda call it equal parts social status and romanticism - and even then the princess thing was an aspect of the romanticism.

Keep in mind I write him after an enormous personality overhaul. He was a dick in the episode. once he evens out the playful aspect comes to the surface.

Rarity and Blueblood are just what happen when two ponies who are a bit too absorbed with themselves or their own ideas clash. Rarity was projecting some sort of romanticized storybook personality onto Blueblood and Blueblood just doesn't care about anyone else.

And really, being in love with romanticized ideas wasn't a problem just contained to Rarity. Everyone's (except for maybe Twilight's) expectations were pretty ridiculous.
