@Mousa: Yes, people feel the need to defend a charector who get's massive, underserved hate. So horrible.

@Blue: Rarity get's alot of hate from people for some reason, including those who are fans of the show. Just read "A defense for Rarity" on the right side of the page.

From what I see Flanderization mostly in Status Quo Is God shows. When character don't evolve in normal way (for better or worse) their personality will become focused or most important or flashy trait and rest will fade away.

Big Mac has definitely been flanderizaed. He used to speak normally, but now he can only speak in catch phrases.

Still, he's the only character this has happened to.

Honestly, I don't see what's so bad about her. The only time I can understand someone hating her is in Sonic Rainboom, but other then that she really isn't that bad.

Admittedly he only spoke normally in one episode at the beginning, so that can probably be chalked up to Early Installment Weirdness rather then actual Flanderization.

I think he is the only ardent Rarity hater on this thread though.

Part of the problem is that in everything else I've ever seen, Rarity's character would be the Alpha Bitch, and a lot of people are responding to the cues instead of her personality. Things like her obsession with fashion, the whining, her loathing of anything dirty, her social-fu, and her preoccupation with appearances. These are things that traditionally are the domain of bitches and FIM has given them to one of the heroins.

Big Mac spoke normally in one episode right as the series's beginning , and that was talking with AJ, one of the closest ponies to him. He's been stated to be extremely shy, so it all makes sense to me, and doesn't really seem like Flanderization at all.

Actually, There's a pretty easy explanation for making Big Macintosh's behavior consistent: The only time he ever spoke in full sentences he was alone with AJ. The times he speaks in really short sentences, he's surrounded by strangers or ponies he doesn't know as well.

Applebloom has said he's shy, so he probably just has a hard time talking around ponies he doesn't know well. He simply got mad enough to ignore that when he yelled at the CMC, and was in love enough with Cheerilee during the love potion fiasco.

See? simple.

@Bad: I'm gonna say her initial idea was very wrong, but there's no denying Blueblood out-assed her.
