Okay, so this image◊ is from Hasbro's booth at a licensing expo, and it is probably one of the greatest things I have seen. I'm honestly surprised that Hasbro came up with that reference before we did.
Also, Vinyl Scratch's name is now semi-canon!

@story it's a symbol used to convey an emotion. What do you want from me?

@CD: Thank you!
I have every single compilation collection. I know every single comic. I LOVE C&H.
The word you're looking for is "emoticon." Neologism ho!

If I understand the current topic correctly, we're talking about the 'layers' of episode morals right?
One thing I liked about "It's About Time" that I didn't notice immediately was that they foreshadowed the ending and the episode's moral by having earlier incidents parallel it on a smaller scale. And it even followed The Rule Of Three:
Twilight Sparkle refers to her badass future self having a scar on her face, but when the audience sees how she gets it, it turns out to just be a papercut. Overreacting much?
Twilight hears about the time travel spell in the Starswirl The Bearded Wing of the Canterlot Archives, and immediately assumes that the only way to get in is to break in. But this turns out to be another overreaction: the first guard to see her just opens the archive for her without asking any questions.
Then there's the end of the episode, at which point Twilight finally realizes that she's making mountains out of molehills.
...they feed my nightmares and starve my dreams.

@Ginger: The pets can decide whether or not they want to compete. That was the whole point. RD wanted a pet that wouldn't chicken out when she wanted to do stunt flying.
@Con: I have all the C&H books and the giant collection tomes with all the comics.
Also, is that the first time that "Vinyl Scratch" has been used by official marketing materials? I know that DJ-PON 3 had been used before.
@ Con: I don't own any of the books, but I grew up on Calvin and Hobbes. There is not one single strip in the entire series that I haven't read at some point or another, and I remember most of them. It's...the perfect comic strip. Nothing else has shown what the medium can really do.

Wow, I bet that's cool. I just saved up my money when I was a kid to buy each one separately. Like, Jungle Cat and The Indispensable and even the 10th anniversary edition and Lazy Sunday.

While we're on the subject of awesome comics: The Far Side. Often imitated, never duplicated.
Believe me, I spent lots of time in used bookstores trying to scrounge up cheap editions.
Anyone else in the "Gets Sunday Newspaper comics, rarely reads them" club?

@JT Exactly, but just because a pet has the GUTS and DETERMINATION to fly the course doesn't instantly mean that they could.
Her even including that as a criteria was dickish because it could potentially lead to this VERY kind of lethal situation

The Far Side is indeed the other Great Comic.
@ Chadman: I don't read them anymore. They all suck now.
