I really liked Death Note... If I could find more anime like that I'd be happy. Im sick of all the stupid fighting animes... I think they call it Shonen?

@Lurker: And it's conveniently a pagetopper! I like how there's a cardboard Twilight chilling back there.

@Turtlebutter: Death Note is also Shonen, lol. Shonen just means it's targeted at young boys.

@Blue Akiyama is one of the mane characters of Liar Game. He's FINALLY come across an opponent he can't effortlessly outsmart, but he's still too calm and in control for my tastes

Hmm... I know that it means targeted at young boys.. I didnt think Death Note was particularly kiddie though. You learn something new every day.

But seriously.. Bleach, Inu Yasha, Dragonball, even Pokemon... fight fight fight :P

I like Death Note because it was more mental wars than who can conjure the bigger special attack.

@Turtle Battles of wits is pretty much what I'm looking for nowadays. You should try out Liar Game. (everyone has a higher tolerance for the mane characters being cool than I do, so...)

[up]It's on my list of things to check out. smile

@Turtlebutter: I liked that too, but the problem with Death Note is that there intelligence is completely unbelievable. Their less intelligent and more omniscient. That's why I preferred Code Geass. The smart characters come up with legitimately smart plans, but still get taken aback by surprise developments they couldn't have possibly seen coming, and are forced to alter their plans on the fly (which is a better way to show intelligence, imo). Don't get me wrong though, I liked Death Note too.

They're not similar at all, are you trolling?

Teenage genius randomly gets special power, and vows to use said power to take over the world, and kills lots of people in the process. Both have supernatural being and granter of said power hanging around. And they both have a rivalry with another teenager, and another characeter who falls in love with them. They both kill their original antagonist before the end of the series. And of course, a lot more characters get powers over time.

Oh yea the story and intelligence was totally unbelievable if you look at it after the fact, but in the setting they used it didnt manage to break my suspension of disbelief enough to make me enjoy the series less.

According to her character page, Word Of God says Scootaloo is definitely getting her own episode sometime during the series. Has this statement been confirmed?

In an interview's with Scootaloo's VA, she said that she had an episode where she had a major role. She said it had Scootaloo acting "differently" or something like that. Don't know if that ever happened, but considering season 2 didn't have one, it's likely.

what is usually on top of this kind of stuff. I think you'll get a better answer from them.

For me, the cool plots in Code Geass were overshadowed by the fact that nearly every single battle was won by a named character getting a better mecha.

@Storyyeller: You can make any shows sound similar if you work at it hard enough. Code Geass is an epic (in scope) world wide war show about mechas, ancient conspiracies, hidden supernatural powers, with dozens of major characters and a lightning fast pace. Death Note is a slow paced, very cerebral thriller with very little in the way of action, a small cast of characters, and a villain protagonist. They're not at all similar in their execution. Their premises aren't similar either, unless you strip out the setting from Code Geass which has enormous effect on the plot.

That would be CLAMP's character designs. All of their work is drawn like that.

Wait, CLAMP was responsible for Code Geass?

Huh. Didn't know that. I've kinda liked most of their stuff... well, I say most. I enjoyed what little of XXX Holic I read, Cardcaptor Sakura(The north american dub of the anime, at least, I know how these things can change) and... whatever that one with the dimesnion hopping is called. Can't recall. Tsubas! that's it, Tsubasa Resevoir Chronicals.

No, CLAMP only did the character designs. They had no effect on the story.

Thankfully.

For CG, CLAMP only did the character designs, and wasn't otherwise involved as far as I know.
