I kinda like how they try to make you think for a second at the beginning that she might really get her cutie mark this episode, and then you're like, aw, it was a fake out. Too much of that stuff can get annoying, though.

Jt I agree character development is my faavotite part of the show.

For so much episodes about the crudaders and 2 seasons Scootalo is still very undeveloped for instance.

I want the CMC to get their cutie marks, because then they might start getting solid personality and character development, but I think that may be expecting too much.

Or maybe I'm expecting just enough.

MMDW seemed to be starting off as a Scootaloo episode, given how the story fared with many after that, maybe that would have been a better direction.

Oh, how can I still think the chicken joke is funny? Am I really that lame?

Ugh, how do I put this? I liked the world building aspect of Family Apreciation Day {Which was a pretty good episode}, and I liked Sisterhooves social, but the mane 6 are just alot more intreasting then the CMC's IMO. And I happen to really hate the Ponyvile Confidential episode, for reasons I'm not going into detail so I can avoid starting a flame war, so that really doesn't help either. JT also summed up a bit more of how I feel on the CMC's getting too much attention.

It's just my opinon. If you disagree, I won't hold it against you, but your not gonna change my mind on this problem.

Exactly; for all the screentime the CMC get, I don't feel like they've progressed a whole lot. I mean, over the course of the series they've gotten about 8 episodes, and they still feel almost exactly the same. Their roles have been expanded a bit, but still, most of their actual development was in episodes that aren't really about the CMC as a group. Like Sisterhooves Social; I really enjoyed it because it showed Sweetie Belle and Apple Bloom in their capacity as sisters rather as just CMC members.

I'd actually love to see an episode about that. I've always wanted a CMC episode that deals with tensions within the group, which I think the CMC episodes as a whole really lack.

@whatshisgame: Dammit that sounds a lot like how I thought an ideal Big Mac episode would work, with him as the downtrodden 'Gromit'-esque character only expressing via facial expressions to his other more abrasive co stars.

I do admit that season two started a few more formulas revolving characters, eg. Twilight episodes concerning her neurotics and causing Self Forfilling Prophecy in her fear of failing, Rainbow Dash's concerning her narcissm and making a laughing stock of herself, and of course the more prominant cutie mark episodes. While these did help establish more personality to an extent, a few more pairing episodes like in season one may have worked better.

I also keep in mind that (gasp!) I'm not the target demographic. The younger viewers are prolly sposed to identify with the CMC more or something.

That and it's also basically just a retread of Bridle Gossip.

Yesterday I saw Sweetie had her own toyset, complete with a dessert car from the Friendship Express laden with Ice Cream.

I predict a S3 episode where she ropes the other Crusaders into selling ice cream.

If anything Scoots has LOST a bit of her personality
