There's only two ways to get Celestia truly angry:

1. Threaten her subjects.

2. Steal her cake.

DID Tia actually get to try that cake in MM Mystery?

She still had a slice after Pinkie ate the cake, right?

I agree on more RD and AJ's interaction. Their rivalry works so well into their characters. In fact a lot of characters had fun chemistry in the first season that isn't seen as much in the second (they butted heads in the Last Roundup but I think that's it), a lot of cool potential relations like RD with Pinkie or AJ and Rarity got used in single episodes then not much is seen of them together again. We did get a few new ones to compensate (eg. RD and Fluttershy) but not as much as the first season.

Come to think of it, RD and AJ seem to get most of the unique development with other characters. Most of the others bounce of each other well, but don't seem to have as many developed relationships (the best I can think of is Twilight and Pinkie).

Celestia's upset over Twilight in CW makes sense if the claims Cadance is her niece are true.

[up]Ya'see folks, this is what happens when you spend too much of a season focusing on the CMC's rather then the mane 6. Not anywhere near as much fun interactions between the mane 6 as in season one.

@Ginger

I like the CMC's too, don't get me wrong, but did they really need Five season two episodes focusing solely on them?

I didn't mind the CMC that much, though I admit most of their episodes involve detaching from most of the rest of the cast, they get some funny gags but they rarely get much development. As such you'll likely not like those episodes unless you like the CMC.

I would like to see more individual development of the three with the mane cast though (eg. Sisterhooves Special or Bridal Gossip).

@ginger: Might have potential. Maybe the fact AJ's has had less big interaction with the others is the reason she seemed a bit more generic in Season Two. She had some Cool Big Sis / The Lancer moments with Twilight, but otherwise she was kind of 'that one in the background'.

yeah how dare they get give them 4 episodes this season, one of which focused on another background character AND epic world building. in season 2.

versus...4 episodes, one of which was shared with the Mane 6 and massive backstory like in season 1

The reason isn't the CMC. The writers simply chose not to do much in the way of character-pair episodes. There also weren't many Mane 6 eps, most focused on a single character.

Season 2 was very formulaic.
