Well I thought Cutie Pox could have been better focused on something else.

I'm boar: when I start on something I refuse to stop until I feel I'm done, I can't stand the company of others, but any friends I do make I keep, I don't like to talk unless I have no choice, I love learning things, I have atemper that can be measured in seconds on a bad day, I tend to keep to myself and if something goes wrong, I try to fix it as best I can.

seriously, there were 4 episodes featured on a CMC, only 2 of them were the CMC as the CMC the other 2 were AB episodes, one shared with Granny Smith and gave the backstory of Ponyville

Season 1 they had...three episodes as the CMC, onr that was mostly AB, and one of them showed the mane 6's Cutie mark stories.

I have to admit that if I had the choice between worldbuilding and character interaction, I'll take the character interaction pretty much every time. The CMC episodes weren't bad, but I'd rather have seen stuff like Stare Master that focuses as much on the mane cast as it does on them.

@story I liked cutie pox.

Oh wait, you don't like "Lol, magical disease" episodes, do you?

The only thing I didn't like about it was the epic Zecora meme that sprung from the ep

I like the CMC in moderation, but they're one of those good things that you can have too much of.
How did they ever lock the trope page of Lolita?

CMC episodes pretty much boil down to "Let's see how they can screw up this time."

To be fair Rainbow Dash also got a good few starring episodes this season two, few of them involving big roles of other characters. I think Season Two might have been testing certain characters' personality strength, since they spent a lot of them as the episode's sole detail. Twilight for example, who got a bit of Character Exaggeration and has more gags revolved her talking or acting by herself in her centered episodes.

If they only have one CMC ep in season 3 it better damn well be a Scoot Scootaloo episode!

Yeah, I don't mind the CMC as characters; I would just prefer that episodes don't focus exclusively on them, because those episodes tend to be more about shenanigans than actual character building. Most of them boil down to "The CMC attempt something, Hilarity Ensues". The mane cast episodes focus more on character interaction and dealing with circumstances.

I don't really have many complaints about the CMC. While not superlative, I though Cutie Pox was OK.

I think the CMC might work better if they had more growth as individual characters and chemistry with other characters. The odd time they do get it is in the non-CMC related ones.

There do seem to be particular characters that get the lion's share of spotlight to some extent each season. Twilight and AJ had many starring roles in season one, as did RD and the CMC in season two. Wonder whose turn it might be in season three.

Also is it true a Big Mac episode was planned and pulled?

Plus, AB's cutie mark has just GOT to be an apple blossom. How do they pick their names, anyway? They're always right!

@Psi I don't know why if that is true.

Did Big Mac just not test well?

And Spike got two focus episodes this season rather than one

cutie pox was okay, but could have been better.

They spent to long on AB show off scene, not enough on the actual disease.

Frost Dragon ist cheap as hell. Freeze+Shatter? That's just mean. Score one for the Rhinox !random (Life 3), also Catscratch spammage and Dashie's Jump+Wonderbolts Badge. Ice 3 is just an inconvenience.

@ Technically Spike had two in both depending whether you count Dog and Pony Show as a 'Rarity episode' or a 'Spike episode'.

Big Mac is admitedly a bit one dimentional at this point, maybe they didn't think he'd have enough draw appeal to hold an episode. Though granted A Day in the Limelight could be just the thing to fix that.

@Ginger:Um, no idea. I've only been playing it for like 10 minutes. I have had a good deal of the plot spoiled for me, but I don't know much of anything about the villains.
