Ace: tricks, you know, stuff and things. I don't recall any silent Marx Brothers films. Though they did have their origins in vaudeville.

I like the Marx Brothers. My mom absolutely hates them though! [lol]
How did they ever lock the trope page of Lolita?

@Ginger: I'm sorry, All I mean is that it's hard to recommend stuff to you because we have such different tastes. It's tough to recommend things when we like totally different aspects of the story. There's nothing wrong with the fact that you like different things, it just means that I can't really give any recommendations because just because I like something is no indication of whether or not you'll like it.

I need to roll a character...

You don't roll it in Sereg's system.

I have rather more interest in the old-school animations than silent films, oddly enough. Of course they could get pretty surreal because they could.

Huh, EQ Daily is having a poll on which other pony country you'd want to see next season. Currently Las Pegasus is in the lead.

Hey, which Marx Brothers movie is Jill watching in the tub in Brazil? I always forget to look.

[up] I love old school animation, too! Plus weird old documentaries, old Movie Tone News reels, anything old put to film!

When I hear Marx Brothers I keep thinking about Communism.

I got to see it in a theater a few weeks ago! There was a film festival, and 12 Monkeys was playing, too. Awesome!

Plus, this weird funny zombie movie called Night of the Comet. The best character was the evil shop boy who was in it for 5 minutes. He was hilarious!

Old Science documentaries are amusing because you smile and nod and think "Hahaha, good show, but we have new information." Sometimes it's fun to see their old-school equipment though :D

@JT Sorry, it's just because I consider you a smart person. Smart people look at characterization. Smart people will willingly forsake comepetence for the sake of character development. Smart people like a character regardless of their role in the story. Smart people are entertained when they try something new

Me... I'm just a guy who likes simplicity. I like watching good people go up against evil people. like the evil people to be on top most of the time, and the heroes to get by on sheer pluck. Protagonists are never my fav characters. I find it's because I spend too much time with them. I get bored of them on some level. I'm more interested in the characters I CAN'T see. Wondering what they're up to etc. etc.

[up]Nah, liking different aspects of stories have nothing to do with intelligence. It's just a personal preference thing. That's all. smile

@ilse: Oh, if we're doing that he should totally read Atlanta Nights.

@ginger: That's not necessarily true. I might like to analyze stories, and I love a story with something good and deep to it, but I can't deny the allure of simplicity sometimes. Sometimes I just love the look of one powerful man fighting against another.

a persons tastes don't have anything to do with how smart they are, nor vice versa.

Do ponies even HAVE movies?

There's this one documentary I like that is interesting because it was written AND narrated by Ernest Hemingway. It's Called Spanish Earth, I think.
