Welcome to the herd. If you're even decently confident in your ability to do craft work, I'd say go for it. Run her mane under water and apply some conditioner first, as that makes the hair several times easier to deal with. Then cut in small segments. If you plan on perming her at all, leave a bit of extra length.

I've got the Hub at home and I don't think anyone looks at recordings in the den, so I guess I could put the first episode of season 2 there...

Then again there's also the possibility of someone walking in mid-episode and going "What are you watching?"
