@Chada I refuse to believe that. (glowers)
The Queen honestly didn't think she was strong enough to win, but eventually realized that she could

No it wasn't. But if you listen it gives a handful of plot details but is otherwise extremely ambiguous to what is going on. It also ends on a uncertain cliffhanger. It's also a huge insight to Cad's character.

And she specifically marks her victory down to Shining Armor's love.
I'm going to guess that neither Celestia nor Chrysalis knew who was going to win. Celestia was probably a bit more sure of herself, but I think they both knew that it could potentially go either way.
And this is why the ending didn't bug me; she let SA and Cadence get together because she mistakenly assumed that if they did, there'd be more love power for her to leech and she'd just get stronger.
@Ginger don't make pull a Zeromaeus and pull out a Blue Lantern ring.
Hour 3 on poni booru as I recall.

Alright, who was it that first made the comparison of Chrys to Vexus? Cause now I can't stop see the similarity.
Not complaining, though. Makes for good .

Actually, going off of what Mage said, I think Celestia knew how strong The Queen had become and intentionally initiated the beam duel knowing she was probably going to lose. That way the Queen would become more sure of herself and more cocky, leading to her making mistakes, and to her doing what JT said

But, Chad, that headcanon of yours is pretty demonstrably wrong. Chrysalis's beam overpowered Celestia's before it touched her, and Chrysalis explicitly says why.
Huh? But she was as shocked as everyone else. If it was her intent to lose and make the queen cocky, then she should have told the main six to go to the Element room while she was distracted by her own speech and the beam o war.

I have a message from another time...

Chrysalis seemed kinda surprised that she managed to pull it off, tho. She might not have been sure it would work.
I guess you can think whatever you want, Chad. Just remember that you are straight up contradicting canon and don't parade it as fact and there won't be any problems.

@Enlog
She had to make it look real, and it might be that she also told them to get to the Eo H vault so they would diver the Queen's attention and give the Queen another reason to be sure of her victory.
