@Enlong Because even if she defeated Nightmare Moon, she still wouldn't have had control of the moon. Nothing would change. The land still would've died. She could've either killed Luna, or use the elements to either purge her, or get her away so Celestia could take over control of the moon.

In my eyes that fight had NOTHING to do with power levels

I'm not sure that makes a great deal of sense. Since Unicorns raised the sun and the moon without Luna and Celestia for years all Celly had to do was defeat NMM who was holding it in place and either her or a team of unicorns could have raises and lowered the Moon. She couldn't do that so she needed to use to the Eo H to banish Luna.

Since Luna and Celestia where dual goddesses it only can follow that they are equal in power.

@Mage My headcanon was that the power of the Sun and the moon works on a system of perfect balance and trust between two people (originally two unicorns, now Luna and Celestia, one can take over both if they're strong enough though. Like Celestia proved) Whoever has the power has to willingly hand it over, it can't be taken.

Then again, what the fuck do I know. I'm just stupid

@Appllight: I named the Princess from Hearts and Hooves Day "Princess Cornucopia. the alicorn of harvests" who is associated with Saturn, just as Princess Cadance is the alicorn of love associated with Venus.
