I think I heard the Kingson Dededoo joke in passing, but I didn't know it was from there.
Is Sunny Sue an actual character, or did you just make it up to sound like Sun Tzu?
I made it up. As far as I know, there is no actual Sunny Sue anywhere.
Or hell, episode 1 Discord. There was an outstanding showman.

@David I prefer for a villain to lose like Red Eye did in FE (in hindsight I realize that his defeat was awesome)
He wasn't outsmarted or lost beause the hero did something awesome... they just talked. And the time he spent talking distracted him long enough for another villian's contingency plan to activate. Littlepip didn't go in TRYING to distract him, she just talked to him...

Hey Ginger, have you gotten any farther in Project Horizons?
What I don't get is why you won't read HP:
Mo R.
Mo R!Quirrelmort is probably the most competent villain I've ever seen.
If there is anything that you are alone in thinking, it's "thinking that you're alone in thinking of your theories".

@ Ginger: Darn. The villains are all awesome and up to snuff in their own special ways.
I tend to take it story by story on how the villains work. As long as it isn't a total blowout by the heroes I usually don't care how competent the villain is.
in my ideal world, a hero wouldn't do a single awesome thing... oh they could be capable, but the story wouldn't dwell on how cool they are
That's just me though

I hope so

I hear there are no Chessmasters

Pshh. The only thing a good villain needs is strength to tear down his foes, and charisma to sway those to his cause.
There's a chessmaster. Whether or not he's manipulating the main characters, or even still alive is another question. It's entirely possible that they're just running into the leftover remnants of his plan. He is one hell of a devious chessmaster though.
@Crow Not really, War Of The Worlds was an interesting story.
the villain can be awesome, the side characters can be awesome, but not the main character himself. The protagonist should focus on being an interesting character, not cool and badass...
again, take Red Eye's defeat... did Littlepip defeat Red Eye in an amazingly cool way? Nope. Did her conversation with him make me love her all the more? HELL YES!!
@CDRW Yeah, I was interested in Goldenblood before I found out he was dead

We're honey badgers we don't care about anything.
@Ginger: We don't know that Goldenblood is dead. We don't know what the crap is up with him. There have been several occasions where the main character has accused someone of being Goldenblood or expected him to show up.
