Just passing by to state the obvious. That episode was damn. great. Epic Fluttershy and RD, LOTS OF DERPY, more of Spitfire, SO MUCH DERPY, Testosterone Poisoning pegasus, OHGODYESMOREDERPY. Also, Derpy reading.

Also, just found an awesome fanfic, with a simple yet disturbing concept: [[Watchmen Rorschach wasn't killed by Doctor Manhattan]], but send to Equestria, more accurately to the Everfree Forest. The story deals with how he acclimates with the creatures here (Hint: He totally kick their asses), and how he interacts with the ponies. All narrated by him (mostly)

It's bucking awesome. Dark (it's Rorschach) yet Heartwarming (it's My Little Pony), and we meet most of the characters we love (The Mane 6, Lyra, Zecora, Spike, Big Mac, Celestia, the CMC...).

True... but with unicorns we have Twi constantly showing off what unicorns can do... E Ps are still the most underrepresented race I think

Show the EP rearranging the landscape on a grandscale.

Unicrons would have had something to do, but Celestia and Luna take care of that already.

Earth Ponies presumably possibly used to have harvest times and planting, but it seems while they're primarily Earth Pony events other races can take part nowadays. Same with Running of the Leaves.

Yeah, unicorns are kinda like the... oh I'm not sure what they're called (I know we have a trope for it)

A class that's weak up until you master it, at which point it becomes unstoppable

that makes me sad. Pegasi are the best off. E Ps son't get anything unique to them

@ Ginger: Magikarp Power. It's also an extreme case of Linear Warriors, Quadratic Wizards. Just with the Unicorns starting out really far behind.

It ain't magikarp power, because that implies that ALL unicorns can be as strong as Twi, and that just ain't true

Earth ponies are the pioneers, the frontier tamers, the ones who literally lay the groundwork for pony civilization.

Except for the increased strength/endurance and better agriculture.

They are the only ponies who can literally tame the earth, make it arable in ways even unicorns and pegasi are unable to.

@ Ginger: Well yeah but don't take my head canon as gospel. Besides I believe I'm in the minority in my views of Earth Pony skills (in this thread at least).

Why do you wanna undermine the E Ps skills? Why not do the same for unicorns and Pegasi?

In my opinion the Earth Ponies are already equal with the other races, so I don't see the need to make them better than the others.

But how? In your head there's nothing they can do that another race can't

It is never stated, but we never saw any other kind of pony in Appleossa.

If you want to get technical, Unicorn magic can probably do anything that the other races can do, including the weather. It's just that in a real equestrian sense it doesn't work.

I didn't say they were unique just that they were equal with the other races, they sacrifice unique skills for being all around better than other ponies. I mean a random Earth Pony farmer (no offence to AJ) is on equal terms with a Pegasus who is getting close to pro athlete levels.

E Ps are Jack of All Stats and Boring, but Practical. Unicorns are Difficult, But Awesome, and Pegasi are...

I'm of the opinion that in a hypothetical race war, Pegasi are probably the most screwed.

I dunno the flying thing gives them a huge advantage for defence, they can just hunker down in places like Cloudsdale and be almost untouchable. Then slowly bleed the others down.
