I'd actually say that's the Unicorns. They have several VERY hard hitters, but on the whole their magic just isn't up to the standard of Pegasi and E Ps (I think)

Build great citadels of stone and hunker down as well. The Unicorns are the exposed ones really. Outside of shield spells they're not looking good for defence.

Well, if the crabapple trees in that one episode were any indication, EP do deal with magical phenomena in a mundane way, making them, if they chose, the Superhero Hunters or whatever the hell the trope is with Badass Normals handling the empowered.

The problem is one of supplies. I could hypothetically see Unicorns using there magic to make foodstuffs, but Pegasi.

Unless there is some cloud agriculture that we haven't seen the other races just need to keep them on the defensive until they starve themselves.

Yes. I was just mentioning it as something that unicorns could do, perhaps in an emergency, not on any practical long term scale.

Also, E Ps are the great pioneers and adapters and survivors. Pinkie created that thing that allowed her to fly. E Ps could probably invent mass versions o those to storm Floating Cities

Wasn't food something that only eps can do en masse? Hence why they were necessary in the old days

Depends on how mobile Cloudsdale is and how willing the Earth Ponies would be to do a risky assault, I mean attacking the enemy in their element where they're most powerful and you're at your weakest would be pretty gutsy when the alternative is forcing them to come to you.

Okay then, the other races die of starvation and then there's no weather and the sun and moon cycle has stopped, the Earth Ponies struggle on for a few years and die.

Not that this wouldn't happen regardless of who won.

And Unicorns would possibly be able to assault in small teams depending on how many capable Unicorns they have that generation.

It would probably just devolve into a Cold War, anyone who attacks the others is at a colossal disadvantage.

One wonders how the tribes got along without each other, before they meet. Unless they were always together and just split for petty racist reasons.

but yes, the wing spell and Cloud walking spell would certainly help unicorns.

I think the E Ps could pull off a MASS assault against Cloudsdale.

Maybe the eco system just kinda evolved to the point where ponykind is necessary for it's continuation

It would have to be a long planned thing to get enough spells cast, the wings didn't have a timer just a tear threshold. That we know of of course.

Mass assault could definitely happen, but at a massive risk. Same as Pegasi actually entering the Earth Pony structures.

Since the ponies are all the same species (using the they can breed and produce fertile offspring definition) they presumably evolved in the same areas, though how they diverged I have no idea since there needs to be a way of blocking reproduction. Maybe the Pegasi stayed mostly in the clouds and the Unicorn were really elitest. But that would mean species divergence is all but inevitable since they don't breed.

Hold on, if the races became segregated by war, and assuming that we believe Carrot Cake's spiel in Baby Cakes, would an EP who was born of a union between an EP and a unicorn be shunned, since they could potentiall give birth to a unicorn?

Depends how pragmatic the races are being. Earth Ponies would kill for loyal Pegasi or Unicorns, same for Unicorns.

Pegasi would possibly just throw them off a cloud.

Earth Ponies could go Dorfish and build fortresses out of mountains or under mountains, in ways that make them weatherproof and laden with trap-filled corridors. They could then store normal vegatable crops and subsist on edible giant mushrooms, and screw the other races over because they can't grow giant cave shrooms, while safely out of the way of most magic and flying attacks.

Well, pegasi live in the clouds. And Earth Ponies and Unicorns would just fall through them. So yeah unless they have some land holdings those kids are falling one way ore the other.

I so want to see a dorf species. Anything eqinelike that likes living underground?

I thought you partly said that they'd do that beause you considered the pegasi too proud to accept help from "the Enemy"

I'm sure the pragmatic aspects of having someone to make a ton of food for you would outweigh pride. Maybe.
