I don't know. Maybe. But depending on the attitude of her friends and family toward immortality, that may just start a domino effect that would never end and cause more problems than it solves.

I just noticed, while inside the tornado, RD was flying around and making sure that others were going at top speed. That had to have been slowing her down (considering that she was looking around and flying backwards/sideways and all). Couldn't she have boosted their top speed by just leaving them and going at HER top speed?

She presumably could have made them faster by going at top speed but since she's the most presumably the most knowledgeable about weather in Ponyville it makes sense for her to be the one making sure everyone is doing it properly and safely. Weren't there kids in that tornado? Or did Rumble just show up?

Why do I love the word presumably so much?

She was the organizer. She had to make sure everyone was working at peak performance. She could have helped the team if she had gone all for it, but if someome had drifted out of place or gotten hurt it would have been on her head.

Maybe Spitfire was expecting them to fail after they did the first time.

Was Rainbow going all out the first time or overseeing? If she was going all out the first time the failure might have been why she switched roles.

Exactly. Didn't want to risk it the second time. She was much more attentive that time around.

As for why Spitfire looked awed... she may not have expected them to pull it off. She did compliment Dash on having Guts, after all.

The whole thing is a recruitment test - Cloudsdale can get it's water anywhere. They just go to towns and use the records as a way to get the pegasi pumped for it, and identify the best flyers. Only large towns can actually pull off the funnel usually, but it doesn't make a difference.

That bugged me actually. RD was trying to beat a record set a major city, presumably a city with more pegasi on hand to help

Sounds needlessly dangerous and convuluted to me. These Pegasi are usually civillians, and these tornados are dangerous

It's nice to have a goal to reach for, breaking a record is better motivation than mandatory weather duty. And by aiming above the bare minimum she was making it more likely that her Pegasi would be good enough to do the tornado.

Aim for the sun and you'll reach the moon and all that.

It does seem pretty unfair. Here's another thing: Why didn't Cloudsdale help out at all? It seems mobile, and it was right there. Plus it's major city made up entirely of Pegasi, who must fly all the time because of necessity. I don't see why they wouldn't fly down to help out.

Anyways, that's enough conspiracy theories for one night. I'm already running on low after last night, so I'm gonna go hit the hay. 'Night, folks.
