Shorts have always been around, and there is nothing wrong with them. It's just another format.

What? What evidence is there of this? If anything, cartoons have been getting longer lately with the decline of the Two Shorts format.

MLPFIM unlike other show what Lauren Faust or other from crew were involved (L Ike PPG, Fosters, Teenage Robots, EE&E) is more than 20 minutes long, it take full time for episodes, other shows have shorter episodes.

Also compare it with previous MLP cartoons.

You're not getting my point.

20 years ago, it was customary to greenlight an animated series that consisted of 65 half-hour episodes, to fit syndication requirements. That was ONE SEASON. Then, it changed to 26. Then it changed to 13. Then the episodes became 11 minutes instead of 22. And now CN is experimenting with a 1.5-minutes series? Does anyone not see a pattern?

@kyun First G1 cartoon wasn't half hour show.

Most stuff from 90s is not half hour long. Animaniacs was full of such shorts.

Tiny Toon Adventures and Animaniacs were both picked up for 65 half-hour episode seasons.

Like I said. It USED TO BE that cartoons were picked up for 65-episode seasons. Then they switched to shorter ones.

65 episodes makes no sense for a season, as when aired weekly it would take more than a year to finish. Also, the fact that CN is willing to experiment with shorts should be commended, not condemned. Variety is always good, and a bunch of shorts is a great way to experiment with different animation styles and characters without risking massive amounts of money, and if the shorts are popular enough, they could evolve into their own full series.
