4. My Little Terraformer: Just why are they taking water from what appears to be a caldera lake or something?

Now watching: Winter wrap-up. plays Katamari theme off-key when Twi's Animate Snow Plough goes haywire. Well, the more powerful you are, the more spectacular and catastrophic the spell failures get Also, poor Twi ;_;

Dashie puts her money where her mouth is, and her skills let her take back her wager most of the time.

Aaaaaaaaappleloosa! aside, all the frontier towns are very Earth Pony heavy.

but nothing on the scale of this hurricane. and no specific mention of E Ps

Farming doesn't sound important, but if the earth ponies went on strike the other ponies would starve. So yeah, farming is boring next to weather control or magic, but it's very important and it arguably makes E Ps the most critical race.

About Winter Wrap-Up, I noticed that since Dinky Hooves and a few other fillies were dancing in the song, it made me wonder what the younger ponies do. Do they stay in school and learn about the jobs from a teacher like Cheerilee? At what time in their life is a filly or colt old enough to help? When they get their cutie mark?

Earth Ponies would presumably have a stronger focus on the mundane sciences, so they'd have superior engineers and mechanics. Also, their engineers are strong enough to keep the trains going even if the engine fails

They learn about Winter Wrap-up from the grownups, and pitch in once they're old enough not to be inconvenienced by the cold.

To be fair, Ginger, you worried that Twilight and other unicorn's telekenesis was rendering other ponies redundant earlier (instant teleport is kinda more effecient than pegusi flying).

Actually, I'd like an episode where Rainbow Dash doesn't get Worfed for once. Let her do something actionized without falling on her butt. The fact it revolves around Fluttershy needing to help doesn't make me hopeful however.

Wait, can Cloudsdale move? They're supposed to be moving all the water from the resevoir to the city via tornado. Will the tornado travel to Cloudsdale with the water hovering inside it? Or will cloudsdale float over ponyville, meaning that the pegasi just need to carry the water straight up?

E Ps are by FAR the least flashy race, so I'm always more worried about them being undermined rather than pegasi

I that Dashie needs a good flight partner to help with controlling the waterspout, and the first pony to springs to her mind is nopony else but Fluttershy, who has kept up with her all season whenever there's action scenes to be had, and also toppled her and slightly trampled her to escape from Dragon-watching

If ponies are needed to grow things and work the weather etc...then any region not inhabited by them or a race with similar powers will be incredably barren and hostile.

Now, so far, all the frontier towns are EP focused.....that means E Ps are the ones who go out there...colonise hostile lands...expand the boarders...work the land to make it fertile...fight off the monsters...and set the place up for the others...screw it, E Ps are the main race. The others are just back up.

Given that many pony holidays seem to be annual and equivalents to our own, I wonder if any of them will ever appear again in the series. Like the sun festival in the first story, Winter Wrap-Up, Nightmare Night, Hearts and Hooves Day, the Running of the Leaves, etc. Or are they a one episode only kind of thing? They might not do another entire story related to it, but they could possibly reference it in other stories. I guess they just did that in Dragon Quest, with the picture of Spike on Nightmare Night, though.

Would be interesting to me to see the Cutie Mark Crusaders' attempts at trying to find which jobs they're good at for Winter Wrap-Up, although unless they made it noticeably different, there would be fans that would complain that it's too similar to the first Winter Wrap-Up story and also The Show Stoppers. But maybe that's just because I'm a big fan of the CMC.

Their lack of flashiness gets to me sometimes. Since, as a visual medium, flash counts for a LOT.

@Apple: Hmmmm. A dead, barren world? I doubt that, there are places like the Everfree, where megafauna predators and expotentially fast breeders (parasprites) rule the ecosystem.

I assume deserts exist in the areas where the pegasi can't spare enough water or clouds. E Ps are skilled at growing functional ecosystems with those kinds of limited resources
