A friend of mine actually had a terrible, but sort of tragically hilarious theory on Scootabuse: Equestria's peace is contingent on Scootaloo's unhappiness. In essence, Scootaloo is a container for the world's unhappiness. If she were ever to be truly happy, all of the unhappiness would spread over Equestira. She can be happy for a while, but no cutie mark, no true love, etc. etc.

That sounds a lot like Puella Magi Madoka Magica.

Here's a question: Why don't The Mane Six ever deal with paparazzi and general celebrity harassment. They have saved the world twice, it seems odd that more ponies aren't "OMG! CAN I HAVE A PICTURE OR AUTOGRAPH PLEASE?

Because Celestia is secretly threatening the paparazzi industry.

I guess it is for the convienance of being able to write a variety of plots that would otherwise not work and to keep from having to much continuity.

The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas is the last thing I thought I'd see connected to Ponies, but nonetheless, I I'm thrilled there is another LeGuin fan around. The only thing worse than Omelas and ponies would be The Lathe of Heaven and Ponies.

I like to think that Princess Celestia knows how annoying the paparazzi can get, so she issued a royal statement that the press is not to harass the Element Bearers on pain on having a nice lunar vacation. Also only the ponies who have seen the glass windows in the Castle really know who they are.

Good! Discussing the fame of the Mane Six.

This looks like a job for OVER-ANALYSIS!!!

Ponies are herd creatures, and so social trends, such as celebrities, tend to be an all-or-nothing deal. The mane cast probably got plenty of attention immediately after their two instances of saving the world, but with nothing new happening, the crowd loses interest and moves on to the next big thing. You can see this happen in the span of one episode in MMDW, where the whole town switches its attention from Dash to Mare-Do-Well at the drop of a hat. This is different from human pop culture because while our trends shift, there will always be lingering fans stalking celebrities regardless of how relevant they are at the time. Famous ponies like Photo Finish or Sapphire Shores have to keep producing new material to stay in the pubic eye.

And there's my daily dose of over thinking things for the day.
