I know my theory will never be confirmed (and is probably wrong), I just like it because it appeals to the flawed but ultimately kind and understanding nature of the ponies

What I like is how open the social system in Equestria is. I mean look at how easily Rarity assimilated into Elite in "Sweet and Elite", it is possible for really anyone with not even that much work, to get where they want to go in life without much hassle.

rarity is really just lucky in sweet and elite when she met fancypants. She mentioned staying at the cstle and bam. I doubt aj, rd or any other mane six would have assimilated. And fancypants was kinda chill

Rarity's personality also had something to do with it. A lot to do with it infact. Fancypants could have adored her but the only reason people kept wanting her around was because she fit in so well with the society. Fancy just jump started her acceptance, it was her that made it work

Yeah, but when I say "the only reason" I'm always refering to the source of whatever it is I'm talking about

Fancypants started it, and Rarity would've floundered without him despite her personality

I also disagree somewhat, aside from those two snobby ponies the Elite of Canterlot....Don't seem that elitist. Rarity probably would have landed where she did, even without Fancypants help, it just would have taken a lot more time then it did.

yeah they only ponies that were flat out elitist jerks were Jet Set and Uppercrust, if Rarity hadn't encountered them before any other high society pony she might have been fine even without Fancypants.
