Well, if anything, I love how the collective fandom pretty much lost their shit as soon as Derpy was canonized.

Since we don't see how Derpy does in academic situations, it's still not certain that she's "stupid, " she's just really clumsy. I wouldn't be upset if she was shown to be canonically unintelligent (or at least I wouldn't be surprised since the writers would only be going off of the fanon interpretation of her personality), but it certainly would be more interesting to me if she was smart or at least of average intelligence.

Then again, aside from Derpy Hooves, the only other place I saw the "derp" thing mentioned was in reference to the Pokemon Bidoof. If it truly is a slur against the mentally retarded, I'm a little surprised they allowed it in the show, but maybe the writers didn't know what it means or only knew about it referencing anyone having a stupid or goofy moment (from what I know about "derp" even means).

Actually, it was fairly easy. The first one◊ I translated was about the six; I knew their element names since they were connected to their marks., it was a simple matter to fill in the blanks when needed.

All this speculation about what Derpy's personality seems a tad excessive. Ultimately I think her personality will be whatever is funniest for that particular situation.

I'm hoping for Genius Ditz myself.

@JT: My personal headcanon (or at least what I'd like to see most) is that she's a Ditzy Genius, so similar to what you said. Like someone who can remember obscure facts but crashes into stuff because she's absent-minded or is just plain clutzy. I do understand that there is a possibility that she could be shown to actually be unintelligent later on (since I'm not the one in charge of her character on the show), but until then Derpy is "Smart until proven otherwise" to me.

One of the reasons why I liked Mighty B! so much; the lead was like SpongeBob in a human girl form lol, I loved it. She could have been a a typical idiot blond or a stuck up fashionista, but she was just a goofy character.
