The Rainuke showed the actual rainboom traveling parallel to the ground, so I'd say that it was the impact of her body at such speeds.

That depends on your definition of explosion. There was a lot of outward force from the impact, which could constitute an explosion, but nothing actually exploded per-say.

Oh, well.

More realistically, thoguh, she would have heled Raise Spike, and she did say that it works every time. Maybe she used ti to get Spike to eat whatever sort of foodstuffs dragons find undesireable, but are still necessary?
