@Ginger: When you think about it, if she knocked it off after Spike got out of his infant phase, it isn't that bad. I mean, making him temporarily like mashed peas so he'll eat them without a fuss isn't much worse than just force feeding them to him. It's still really questionable, though.

I'd say her KNOWING that spell in the first place is incredibly questionable. That's the sort of incantation I'd expect from Trixie or something!

Magic in this world has always been some what vague. The showrunners have always been of the opinion that "we can figure out the worldbuilding stuff as it comes up".

It makes me wonder what happens when some other pony breaks the sound/magic/whatever barrier? The rainbow effect is probably specific to RD and it would conform to their own color.

I'd say there are different effects for different pegasi. Spitfire would cause a Fireboom for instance.

I like to think that Gilda can do a Sonic Boom without any flashy effects (maybe a small burst of feathers or something)

It also makes me want that Sonic the Hedgehog crossover that I mentioned some pages back to happen, because I could imagine Pony!Sonic pulling it off, and he would be an Earth Pony.

Damn, if I wasn't terrible at writing and already writing something else, I would totally write that. Maybe I will later

May I remind everyone that basically everything Dash does is rainbow-colored? She leaves rainbow-colored dust clouds behind her when she moves quickly, and she also creates rainbow fire.

I do wonder if breaking the sound barrier is something that any pegasus with enough training can do. I'm not sure if we will ever get a clear answer.

I wonder if the Sonic Rainboom was predicted in an ancient prophecy or something? Think about it: She's the only pegasus who has EVER done one, and after performing it in CMC she said "I proved that the legends were true"

What legends exactly?

Or it's something that has been done in the past but not for a very long time. Maybe Celestia can perform one, but hasn't needed to in centuries.

The appearance of her Rainbow Mane is one of those odd fandom mysteries as well.

The Sonic Rainboom took place realtively close to relase of Nightmare Moon.

It marked the gaining of the cutie marks by ponies that would go on to be Elements of Harmony's barers.

The Sonic Rainboom is massive event that was likely seen all ove Equestria, including in Canterlot.

It just so happens that right after the Sonic Rainboom Celestia pays a visit to her Magical School and stumbeles upon a pony she will make her new student. The one that will go onto the lead the other Eo H.

Say, before I go to sleep I'd like to ask,

what do you all think of the idea of a mortal pony villian (so an Eo H blasting is unlikely) who's so competant and dangerous, that rather than the girls defeating them...they instead have to try and force a Villainous BSOD upon them?

Which is why I think it's a magical feild...but I have nothing to back that up with.

Because they're slippery...or backed by an army/monster/superweapon etc...or they're a villain with good publicity.

I don't think Celestia is immune to Poison Joke...a supervillian weilding that stuff could hit her with a fast attacking mutant strain (EP magic ftw!), which robs her of her flight, magic and size...then kidnap her and hold her to ransome...or something.
