I have arrived. And everyone else has left.

On Fluttershy catching up to Rainbow Dash many pages ago. I put it down to Rainbow was pulling a cloud, Rarity and Pinkie Pie. Also she may have subconsciously wanted to be caught I don't know.

I don't think Fluttershy could have kept up that burst of speed for long anyway, I think of it like a desperate sprint. If she didn't catch up, she would have been too tired to continue. As for RD, she was possibly keeping at a slower speed to not run out of endurance expecting to be faster than FS, not for her to sprint like that.

Fluttershy probably has some moderate flight skills. I think she learned them herself after she started to live in Ponyville so she can fly with any birds she is keeping.
