Note that even a 3'6" pony would be a bit difficult to carry. I have a 40" tall Fluttershy plushie and she's quite the armful if I want to move her somewhere (and I'm 6' tall).

I'd love to hang around with any of the main six, as well. Although length would depend on the pony in question. I could probably spend days with Twi or Applejack. Fluttershy or Pinkie I could probably go a day or two with. But Rarity and Dashie would be a half day at a time at most, since our personalities differ enough that too long would get grating for either or both parties.

I wouldn't mind meeting any of the background ponies, either. I'm sure they'd all have interesting things to say (or at least stuff that would be interesting to a non-Equestrian).
