While I am in favour of Ginger not spontaneously combusting. I'm interested in whether or not Unicorns ever try to bridge the gap between them and Earth Ponies. And it makes more sense for Unicorns to be inventors with the whole telekinesis thing.

Plus Applejack and Big Mac will win anyway so I doubt he'll get that mad.

I might be missing something, but who are the Flim Flam Brothers? The only Flim Flam I know off is that Ethnic Scrappy from The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo.

Pinkie Pie is hardly a measuring stick of the average Earth Pony. Though Applebloom is shown to be pretty handy as well.

Personally I think it makes much more sense for Earth ponies to be inventors. Unicorns simply don't have the need for technology, because they have magic. I think if you separated the tribes into distinct societies for a couple hundred years, EP's would end up much more advanced than Unicorns. Pegasi might become more tribalistic, but that's beside the point.

But yeah, I think Earth Ponies would develop more and faster simply because they have more need to, and necessity is the mother of invention.

@Bad, are you kidding? If there's any hint that a unicorn could be even close to as good a farmer as an earth pony for any reason, Ginger'll flip. Remember that one bling bag unicorn who liked to grow her garden?

They're not farming they're just producing cider. They probably want the farm for a consistent supply of apples and they'll pay Earth Ponies to actually farm.

Not really. They want a farm, Sweet Apple Acres is a farm. AJ (presumably) has agreed to a contest for the farm. I don't see anything corrupt about that.

And if AJ is unhappy about a machine being used then hopefully she'll talk to a judge about that.

I wonder if there are any ponies out there who really want to be good at what X type of pony can do. A unicorn pony who wants to be good at what an earth pony does, for example.

Transponies? I have a theory that it's actually possible - there is a spell that grants wings, so it should be possible to cast a spell that changes races. I think I had an idea for a story that starts with Twilight trying to invent a spell to change races. She uses a wrong rune and accidentally invents a spell that changes gender, setting off a plot where a 'colt' keeps asking Twilight to change him into a filly so he can keep up a relationship, but his body starts to adapt to the spell and it becomes less effective. Transponies!

I SO hope we'll get to see Granny Smith be awsome in this episode

Well, there does seem to be a limit on what powers you can conjure...unless your Twilight.

Rarity can instantly turn branches into topiary and fabric into clothes with her magic because her talent is design...and she can find gems and create illusions for fashion shows, and has telekensis, but that's about it.

Unicorns are largely useless. Telekinesis and one other spell. Every other race has a variety of stuff they can do.

Considering we've only ever seen specialty unicorn spells a handful of times, I don't think we can really say how useful they are. And I doubt they only get one spell; they probably get a couple that are related to their special talent.
