No, I think a Horse in MLP would be about as tall and as porportioned as Luna and Celestia. Maybe more muscular if a stallion, graceful if a mare.

^Yeah, apparently the average pony body shape (the one all the girls use) is between three to four feet tall at the head. (Why we measured head and not shoulder, who knows.)

Tentative Horses in Equestria:
They live in small villages, mostly agrarian-based, with little of the Earth Pony innate magic ability, (Earth Pony innate magic is a result of their distant relation to Alicorns) so they live simply and mostly off of the land. They are reliant on pony-kind for tools and technological things as a resut. However, they are powerful workers and near-tireless. They tend their simple farms and barter their wares with earth ponies for the things that they need, so they co-exist well.
In the distant past, they were used as soldiers, having the stamina and strength to go into battle as ground troops against predators and stuff. They have a strong sense of pride and stubborn nobility, remmnants of their past warrior traditions.
Aside from trade with other Earth Ponies, their views on those other ponies is a bit more complicated. They revere Alicorns as veritable dieties, more so than ponies do.
Adjust/debate at whim.

How big is a big horse? If the ponies are 3 feet tall...and a horse was 9 feet tall...wow, yeah, a horse would be a freakin' giant.
