Except Bon-Bon the Second and Sparkler. They actually sounded pretty normal.

The saving of the grass from weeds was funnier, imo. Still loved Sparkler, though.

I like to go with the big sister thing because of how old she sounds.

While I do like to think that Ditzy's a lot Older than she looks, I don't think she's THAT old

It could be that Sparkler is Ditzy's sister, and she was just there so that Dinky would have a chance to compete. A young aunt, or something. The pairings all seemed to be one older mare with a younger mare, so it would probably be acceptable to compete with a close older cousin/relative.

Having sparkler as Ditzy's sister might also help to explain where the unicorn genes come from - Ditzy is half unicorn, and Dinky got the recessive genes.

Also in terms of narm, Twilight's expressions from lesson zero were pretty narmy for me.

It was melodramatic, but I think it was supposed to be at least kinda funny, which disqualifies it. I can't recall any truly narmy moments because there's very little that's played for pure drama to begin with; deliberately inserted humor isn't narm.

Yeah, I can see Sparkler as being a cousin or aunt of Dinky. It isn't like anyone cared about Sweetie Belle running the race with Applejack, so they'd have been fine with cousins running it.

For some reason I just love the "big sister" foundation idea. It just sounds so different. It's a type of relationship I don't think I've seen before... and it's adorable
