I believe there was also a Jellyfish herder named...Jelly...or Jellybloom. I believe she was an octopony.

Thing is, they're completely immune to all the vemons and toxins of the sea. So she can happily let Box Jellies cling to her and sit on her head.....

I imagined her as having the love for animals that FS has, but posessing Pinkies outgoing friendiness.

Remember Pinkie wearing that basket on her head? Imagine a Jellyfish in it's place...that's what it would be like.

I think I've got the three SP races pinned down:

Hippocampi: The Pegasus of the seas. Half pony, half fish. Strong and fast swimmers. Herd the fish.

Octoquine: The Earth Ponies of the seas. Half pony, half octopus. Farm the seabed, tend to the corrals, look after the crabs/jelly fish etc. Tenacles means they can use tools, but are much slower than Hippocampi, or even Narwhals. Immune to all sea based poisons.

Narwhals: The Unicorns of the sea. Do everything else.

She claims Jellies are 'cuddly'.

Okay so Sea Pony ideas.

Prince Tidus: Ruler of the sea ponies. Has aspects of all sea ponies? Horn is somewhat tridentish? Cutie Mark could be Trident or perhaps a whirlpool. Possibly older sister/brother. Knows Celestia, maybe more fond of Luna (moon does govern the tides).

Herder Sea Pony: Is a Hippocampus. Pet is a dolphin. Responsible for herding schools of fish. Has a crook (how does she hold it? Mouth, tail?). Still want her to be Welsh. Cutie Mark possibilities; Fish, Crook

Octoquine who cares for animals (Jellybloom): Cutest thing ever. I mean seriously guys somebody please draw her. The element of Daw. Ahem. Loves animals like Fluttershy and is extroverted like Pinkie. Jellyfish hat is greatest thing ever. Primary pet will be a Jellyfish. Cutie Mark possibilities; Jellyfish, something really cute, like a Jellyfish maybe.

Narwhal who can cast bubble spells: Gruff possibly Scottish accent. Will be responsible for Mane Six visiting Sea Ponies or Vice Versa. Responsibility in community could be trading. Taught by Tidus perhaps? No too much like Twilight, generic school for Narwhals. Cutie Mark could be a series of bubbles (Too much like Ditzy should be something else).

massive sea pony with the tenacles of a Octoquine, the horn of a Narwhal, and the dorshal fin of a hippocampi. Young ruler? Boisterous type?

I think the herder could be named Schooler, or Shoaler.

Why would a sea-prince be obliquely named after a word for the sun?

Tidus...tides. Ocean tides.

I heard that "Tidus" came from "Tida", which was a word for the sun in.. some language. I forget.

Tidus WAS a blitzball player though, so there's still a strong connection to the water there

I keep picturing Tidus as a young Teddy Roosevelt type.

Ooh, talking about Sea ponies?

I had been planning on writing Tidus as a sort of cold, neutral type. He can be kind, he can be cruel, but ultimately he's ambivalent, like the ocean itself.

I had always sort of assumed the gods/goddesses would have traits similar o what the lord over. Celestia, goddess of the sun is warm and bright, Luna, goddess of the moon is cool and distant, but still glows and is loving, just more subtly so. It seems to make sense, to me.

I love Sea Ponies. So many ideas that will never be used for anything.

Very boisterous. Maybe even cracked the secret of royalty that is less feared. Likes to rub hooves with the common sea ponies by going drinking down the local pub? Definitely not as powerful as the Alicorns. Probably younger than the Alicorns but possibly is immortal.

Shoal refers to a shallow water. So maybe not. Schooler sounds good.

I was thinking of him like traditional sailors. But it does make more sense to think of him as the ocean.

Other Ideas.

Demolition Pony: Hippocampus, occupation is at least partly using the Pistol Hoof to clear sea floor for building, maybe aids in construction of new trenches, underwater volcanoes etc. Extremely physically strong. Cutie Mark possibilities; Boom, Pistol (lol not really), Rubble.

The Farmer: Octoquine, occupation is growing kelp. Side job is sculpting Corral for art shows. Not very enthusiastic about kelp growing but it pays the bills until her art career can take off. Cutie Mark Possibilities; Corral (I am so original guys).

Argh. I'm trying to think of another name. Trying to turn "Aqua" into a masculine name, but "Aqus" looks stupid when spelled out. "Aquus", maybe?
