Oh, wait a second - I just realized that we have a way to place this episode chronologically. Zecora comes to Ponyville once a month, right? That means that this episode takes place around a month after "Bridle Gossip", assuming we can take Zecora's 'last time I was here' literally.

Except now that she's been welcomed by the townsponies, she might come to town more often.

Also, I'm about 2 pages into the review for this episode; hopefully it'll be posted tomorrow night or sometime on monday. I love how I can spend all day writing a paper for class and only get about 400 words of progress, then write a review of a My Little Pony cartoon and get 1000+ words in like an hour and a half while I watch tv.

Still, we can always say that it's her first visit to Ponyville since "Bridle Gossip" - especially since she seems so hurt by everyone's panicking before she realizes that Applebloom's the cause. Her relationship with the townspeople is still new. Thus, this takes place before "Luna, Eclipsed".

Equestria Daily's new toy chart doesn't include eye colors. If you look at some of the older, more well-lit photos of them (on Ponibooru), you can see what some of their eye colors are, which helps a lot in telling background ponies apart from Suspiciously Similar Substitute Canon Foreigners.

But it has to take place after Lesson Zero, since Applebloom is writing the letter. And I got the sense that Lesson Zero is one of the later episodes chronologically, since sending letters is so old hat by that point.

It's possible that Zecora had been coming in monthly, and the ponies were all being nice to her until this time. Like, the last time was just another time in a long string, and she thinks all of a sudden they're back to being afraid.

I dunno, I'm just inclined to think that at the very least all of season 2 takes place after all of season 1.

That's the same thing I think.

I think it's more a matter of in the review I can write whatever I want to, whereas for the paper I have to adhere to the rather strict guidelines and do tons of research and rewrites.

I'm interesting in the subject matter of the paper, but writing for somebody else's specifications rather than one's own always makes it an order of a magnitude more difficult.
