@Orion I've always wondered do you guys like to be "deep" or be all "self reflecting" that sorta thing? Cuz I tend to do that a lot when everyone else is asleep in the house. I used to be a medicater of sorts back when I was so stressed with my life. I would always try to clear my head when life got me down. But recently I haven't the time or the patience to continue on mediating.

There are two reasons I don't really ship Spike:

1. Age difference. I think it's possible to come up with a way to explain it away (usually via dragon aging shenanigans), but it's something I would have to address before trying to put Spike in a serious relationship, and honestly I don't think its worth the effort. The only characters who are in his age bracket are the CMC, I don't really ship him with them either because of reason 2:

2. He's a dragon. I don't think that disqualifies him from being in a relationship with a pony, but like with the age thing, it's something that would have to be addressed to make the ship work. You couldn't just pair him up with a pony and have things proceed normally from there; his species is too major of a thing for me to brush over. Which is a problem, because when I do shipping, I care more about how the personalities interact than how external factors like age or species change things.

I don't see why those are problematic. It's a fantasy world, so I think the rules that apply for furries apply to dragons and other animals in their world: There are no rules. Plus, Spike just needs to date, not much more. Why not pair him with Sweetie Belle?

I can see what you mean, but to be fair a proper version of TDA would take a lot of vocal power and saprano to get the maximum effect.

I don't have much of a problem shipping the CMC if it's relatively innocent and done well for some reason.

@Ed Yeah I know I'm just tired and can't be bothered to edit my post. But yeah Meditating is something that made me balance out my ying and yang so to speak and I'd like to think of myself as a person who wants to redeem himself in his life that's why I took it up as a part time hobby once.

Nah, he's probably just like, the dragon equivalent of a furry. A pony...y.

In season 5 it will be discovered that Spike isn't actually attracted to Rarity on a physical level, but understands that she's attractive and so feels that he should be. The episode will be a veiled aesop about homosexuality.

It's hard to say, really. We don't have a good analogue as there are no non-human sentient species that we know of.

I'm confused. Is the idea that you profess attraction to people you aren't actually attracted to in order to conform to perceived social norms? Because I don't think anyone in Ponville would think worse of Spike if he wasn't hitting on ponies.
