Either that or her inability to fly is matter of technique (she has to move her wings a certain way in order to get the lift) but she's trying overcome it by brute force (flapping her wings incorrectly, but harder). I kinda like the idea that somepony points out it out, and as soon as she fixes it she can fly stupidly fast.

I'm still not sure what to make of Spike's attraction to ponies. It's hard to compare due to the lack of a decent human analogue; I guess homosexuality would be the closest, but even in that case the attraction is still to another human. The other problem is that in Spike's case, he's incapable of ever adhering to the norm. In the case of a gay guy, there are always women around for him to not be attracted to. For Spike, as far as we know, he's never even seen another dragon in person until "Owl's Well that Ends Well". It would be like calling someone gay because they're attracted to men because they grew up in an all-male society with no women to be attracted to.

So basically, the way I see it is that Spike's basically into ponies because there aren't any other dragons for him to have an attraction to. In the absence of any dragons he developed a thing for ponies because he was basically raised as one.

@Irish: Those puns were just awful enough to be awesome.
