I have a playlist of pony music devided into genre sections. I've actually played Pinkie's FIM stage theme on stereo and no one noticed it wasn't a regular dance track.

Here's one I like. I'm not sure what it's from but it reminds me of Rockey.

@Kegisak: As a religious person, I can say that the people who are doing this to your friend are idiots who apparently haven't taken much time to actually read The Bible, which places far more emphasis on you know, not treating each other like garbage, than anything to do with homosexuality. Seriously, the subject is only mentioned a handful of times, and the lion's share of those references are more about its association with paganism than any inherent problems with it. (Sodom? Was actually destroyed for because of their breach of Sacred Hospitality; the homosexuality was incidental) Other than that, I honestly think it's mostly Values Dissonance. Jesus never discussed it at all. Well aside from the fact that he called some members of his audience out as being worse than Sodom, so if homosexuality was the issue, apparently Jesus considers being a Holier Than Thou jackass far worse.

Okay, mini-rant over. Back to ponies.

Have a scrunch.

Well, here's Pinkie Pie's stage theme just because it's a classic, Pony Rock Anthem, Stardust Speedway US version remix in Sonic Generations, Mirror B's Gale of Darkness battle theme, Sigma's second stage theme from Mega Man X 5, some catchy girly pop punk, and some funky Celtic techno.

@JT: Yeah, His family(Well, his father, who suggested the counselling), have some... interesting ideas on the whole thing. The father is a minister , and his church seems to place a very, VERY big influence on obeying the bible to the letter. It's worth noting that they truly, genuinely believe that being gay is harmful in the long-term, and that even though they're putting him through something unpleasant they're ultimately doing something good for him. They're very much of the 'suffer in life for happiness in heaven' camp.

They also seem to be pretty big on not questioning the bible, throwing around the classic 'unknowable' and 'immutable' terms for God... which is what lead to this situation in the first place, as it was his frustration with the 'don't ask questions' part of his religion that lead him to depression and eventually coming out.

But yeah. Believe me, I'm well aware of how fucked up the situation is, and so is he... but much as I disagree with his family, I can't really bring myself to be MAD at them for this, since they THINK they're doing right, they just... are wrong.

I'm of a different opinion. Good intentions don't mean a thing if it's damaging in reality. Good intentions are everywhere, but stupidity should not be suffered because of religious superstition. It's sad most don't even know the King James version most churches cling to is a mistranslated mess.

And agreed on the sodom point, I've read it myself and it was more about Sacred Hospitality than anything else.

@Kegisak: Ugh, yeah, people who refuse to actually use their brains to read the Bible are some of the most frustrating to deal with. People seem to forget really easily that it was written 2000 years ago. Seriously, most of the stupidity attributed to the church (Young Earth Creationists, all the Left Behind stuff) is due to people who are dead set on reading it "literally" when it was never supposed to be read that way. I could go on complaining about it, but this isn't the place.

Needless to say, this is my general reaction.

[up]Just to nitpick, I wouldn't say "most churches" cling to the KJV. Pretty much every church I've ever interacted with uses more modern translations.

I honestly don't know where to stand on the intentions thing. I mean, I do think they weigh in somewhat (somebody who rear-ends my car because he honestly didn't see me isn't going to get as much wrath as somebody who hits me because they're drunk), but on the flipside there does need to be a limit to where people turn into Well-Intentioned Extremist types. And attempting to actually find that line is nigh impossible. It's especially iffy when the parties involved don't agree on whether or not the thing in question is harmful.

*so guys, i'm going to give those Tinkerbell movies a watch out of curiosity. being a brony, i know it's possible to get a solid presentation out of a seemingly girly premise. here's hoping the same happens here.

Holy hell, it never really hit much just how much stress I've been under the last couple of weeks until I actually typed it all out in a message. If Wikipedia is to be believed, I'm only one symptom short of a full-blown panic attack right now.

Sorry to hear that, CDRW. Panic attacks are never pleasant nor are the stresses that trigger them. I hope you manage to find some sort of release for that stress. I'm lucky in that it has been quite a while since I last had an attack. I've been diagnosed with Social Anxiety Disorder and am reasonably sure I'm mildly agoraphobic.

@CDRW: I know that feel. I looked at Wikipedia's page for Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and I think I have like 90% of the symptoms, which is like twice what a diagnoses actually requires. New job with vaguely defined responsibilities plus a tendency to freak out will do that.

Hope you feel better soon.

@JT and Dark: Oh don't get me wrong, I by no means mean that having good intentions forgives them. The road to hell is paved with good intentions, and all that. In fact one of the biggest morals in The Colour You Bleed is that the difference between a good person and a bad person is that a bad persons never believes what they're doing is wrong.

I'm simply pointing out that when someone really, truly believes something, it's difficult to blame them for how harmful it is, especially in a really finnicky case like this. I mean, for all I know they could be RIGHT, and my trying to circumvent them could be doing a lot of harm in the long-term. I'll fight like hell to stop what they're doing anyways, but choosing to view them as their beliefs rather than people, and blindly assume they're bad or stupid based on it is exactly what's wrong with organized religion*.

@CD: Eesh, sounds rough. Sounds like you could use some chocolate.
