Spike's Rarity crush doesn't seem to bother him at all. He doesn't really pine for her and isn't above making fun of her.

It's impossible for characters to stay sad for more than an episode.

So far, what made Spike the saddest was when he thought Twilight didn't love him anymore and didn't want him around. I'm probably bad for finding his sulky "Twilight HATES me" hilarious.

I would like a Spike episode. Maybe the Mane 6 have to do something like in "Dragonshy", but we see his perspective of staying at home instead?

Ok now I'm picturing a 'Zeppo' episode for Spike, we see him go about his day to day activities while the Main Six pop up every few scenes rushing about taking care of some major crisis we never see.

oh oh, it's Spike and Big Mac hanging with each other all day.

Spike runs away and Big Macintosh helps search for him and ends up finding him. Some sort of monster threatens Spike so Macintosh kicks it away. The lesson is don't annoy giant red horses.
Yes. Big Mac would be the one who actually solves everything but since he doesn't talk much Spike takes all the credit. It would be a bit like the Green Hornet.
Well he's exchanged a few lines with the buffalo, and with Davenport. Other than that I can't think of anything. Do we know what gender the owl is?
