Astronomy is canon, so unless they're the only planet in their solar system, it will have occured to them to name the planets.

Hey Applelight, are you still looking for troper-written fanfics to read?
That would be running a punchline into the ground.
I mostly read them. For now.
Speaking of stories, this excerpt from Higher Flier: Mach Two
[After Rainbow Dash fires a Sonic Rainboom to clear a storm]
With a brief surprised laugh, Mikoyan glanced down, spotting where Rainbow Dash was now standing on an outcropping of rock, looking rather proud of herself. Then he shouted, dropping into a dive.
"That!" he called as he came flying down. "THAT! Was the most stupid, imbecilic, insane move Mikoyan has ever had pleasure to not believe is being happened!"
Und wenn du lange in einen Abgrund blickst, blickt der Abgrund auch in dich hinein.
Yeah, the others. I mean, we knew about planets before we knew we lived on one, and it was centuries until it started seeping into the public consciousness to regularly think of it as one on an everyday basis instead of just a pretty expanse that we had to do funky things to? get a good map for pillaging towns and smuggling rum.
Well it's advanced enough that they do know their planet is a planet and orbits the sun just like the others, assuming that is what is happening. Attempting to reconcile their modern understanding of comets with the way the sun is shown to work is an excercise in madness.

Well, -ahem-, that is an interesting use of
Engrish right there!
Have you guys noticed how the Cutie Mark Crusaders have been compared to barnyard animals? Let's see:
- Apple Bloom is compared to a puppy. I wouldn't blame anyone for thinking that, because she is energetic, cute, and in "Call Of The Cutie" she spun around like a dog chasing its tail.
- Babs Seed is compared to a pig. Apparently, observations have pointed out how her hair looks like bacon, how chubby she looks, and how eyes seem small and round like a pig's.
- Scootaloo is compared to a chicken. Okay, that one is pretty obvious, thanks to the episode "Stare Master".
- Sweetie Belle is compared to a cow. Probably has to do with her "Moo!" cry in "One Bad Apple", and the fact that cows sometimes wear "bells".
I don't think I'm wrong here, but I don't know what you guys think of that.

Oh, Equestria, we stand on guard for thee!

Arrow ninja, or are you actually talking to me? What was the mistake?

@crowlover: The next chapter (which is short and more of an interlude) and the chapter after it are currently pending revision.
That would be running a punchline into the ground.
So, as of the latest episode, it is confirmed that Luna is basically Morpheus.
Did anyone
not think of this before? She is called The Princess of the Night and dreams (for the most cases) are in the realm of night,
of course she could do that.
No heroes, no villains, only people.
How does this have anything to do with Morpheus?

What Calnos and Japanese Teeth said.
Shame on you, storyyeller. XD

You're thinking of the guy from The Matrix aren't you? Morpheus is the god of dreams in Greek Mythology
Oh, that would explain it.
