You want a physically impossible city, why not Canterlot? Seriously I can never figure out how to map that place. There's a palace, a school, train station, marketplace, and presumably enough living space for a large population of unicorns & earth ponies (note there are always very few pegasi in Canterlot episodes). The way its built leaves little room for expansion. It...bah, it baffles me!

@Calnos: I have a that Canterlot has reached the limits of economic growth since the city has next to no space to grow. It will evolve into a city of learning and arts, while Manehatten becomes the centre of commerce.
