I dunno, for the sequel to TCYB I'd considered introducing a special material that gave a big magic boost, but only EP's could use it. The theory is that they naturally use their entire body as a focal point for magic, while Unicorns and Pegasi only use specific parts, so if they tried to use it they'd overcharge themselves and experience burnout. Sort of like increasing the water pressure in a hose. Increase it too much and eventually the one opening won't be enough anymore, and it'll burst out of the next weakest area. The EP's, meanwhile, have a much wider 'opening', so they can push much more magic through without experiencing burnout.

[up][up]Say, you're the new fellow, aren't you? I don't believe I ever actually greeted you... better late than never, I suppose. Welcome aboard!

How do I go about getting someone to draw a wet-mane Luna drinking a milkshake while wearing socks?

[up] That'd get the SCP foundation knocking on your door within the week. If a sentient being looks at the image, he will undergo [DATA EXPUNGED] sucrose crystals coursing through their bloodstream. This results in immediate death.

Oh, the thread? Don't worry, it's just dead.

@Rainbowraptor: That reminds me that I don't think I've greeted you either. Hello, and welcome to the thread. I'm Mio (as you no doubt have guessed), and I'm probably one of the those that's most likely to say not good things about episodes, even if they are genrally well liked. It's prompted some to accuse me of being Anhedonic, but I'll let you judge that for yourself.

Also your new avatar is a bit on the nose.

Nevermind, I read a little further.

And so, the thread dies at my hands once again. I must have racked up several centuries in prison time by now.

It really does look quite Wind Waker esque, now that I think about it.

Wow, you're right. I never noticed.

Fine. Let's put it another way. We know from Return of Harmony that Twilight can physically lift multiple tons. However, she can't even budge the snowplows from Winter Wrap Up while the earth stallions were managing easily.

Tom could have been enchanted. It may not actually weight that much.

Why would he be enchanted? Discord wouldn't care about Twilight being able to carry him, and in her current state Rarity wouldn't care about her comfort either.

...Why am I referring to that rock as him?

Basically, the fact that Rarity and Twilight could physically lift that boulder at all conflicts greatly with the limits of their physical strength demonstrated earlier as well as later. The Doyalist explanation is Rule of Funny. Oddly enough, that's also the Watsonian explanation, thanks to Discord's involvement. tongue

@Rainbowraptor: Your avatar is indeed aprpriate. I avtually don't think I've oficially greeted you either. Welcome to the herd. I'm Sereg. I'm not actually sure what I'm known for though.

@Storyyeller: I've heard that argument before, but if anything, Discord would want to make it harder Twilight to carry Tom. Not easier.

@Perpetual Lurker: How does it conflict with their earlier and later demonstrated abilities? Twilight can telekinetically lift far more than that and Rarity experienced a sonic rainboom while being completely unharmed.

He'd want to make it possible, but just barely. That way they'd be forced to let Rarity bring it along while making it as inconvenient as possible for everyone involved.

Twilight was able to carry it because it was actually hollow. The inside was full of spiders, but Discord was defeated before he could crack it open and freak everypony out.

@Sereg I'm referring to their physical strength, not their magical strength.

@Perpetual Lurker: I've made an edit. Also, if Discord is the only reason they could lft the rock, why was nopony surprised that they could do so?

EDIT:[up]Rarity not being torn to shreds from that speed is physical ability. I remember reading about a human who ejected at near sonic speed. His skin was ripped off.

@Sereg So, a snow plow is heavier than a boulder? This is really one of those time were you should just say "it's a cartoon" and move on, honestly.
