@ Lurker: I don't think it is specific to Cadance and Changelings. I mean we already know Friendship is Magic.

And for the second I'm mostly exaggerating for effect but that is what it feels like people are arguing for sometimes. And I don't think we've ever seen an Earth Pony do something Twilight couldn't. Logically because we don't have a peak of the Earth Ponies in our cast. Not talking skill wise, like say AJ being good with a lasso, but inherent strength wise.

Even if she couldn't just use her telekinesis directly, there's always that Come To Life Spell she has and tons the others we don't know anything about any which could help.

@Bad We're talking about pound for pound strength, here, though. Sure, Twilight could probably power the steam engine on her own (though there's on telling how long she would be able to keep it up.) At the very least you have to say that Earth Ponies have crazy endurance, since the train ride was over a day long. Twilight always gets tired out after one big spell.

She launched it into the air. She didn't flip it over.

Anyway, none of this even matters within the context of the show, so lets just drop it already.

I'm hesitant to even take Over A Barrel's word on this considering how weird it is overall, aside from that if Earth Ponies are so efficient and good at this why have we never seen another train pulled by them?

I just think Big Mac being powered up by Love Magic (as he also is in Lesson Zero) makes more sense than random farmer happens to be super Earth Pony who has trouble with cakes, old plows, barns and whatever injured him in Applebuck Season.

I know that the discussion just finished and people don't want to bring it up, but I just want to point out the funny implication that apparently anytime Big Mac is effected by magic his strength increase by some large amount. I can only imagine what silly feats of strength he could pull off with the Alicorn Amulet.

@Mio I've been imagining a scenario in which Apple Bloom gets a hold of the amulet and proceeds to accidentally break everything because she can't control her own strength, but she's having so much fun with it that she doesn't want to take it off. It's quite an amusing thought.
