@Sereg a while back Just because most unicorns are limited in the spells they can perform doesn't mean that they don't have to learn those spells. Rarity's illusion spell probably isn't something that she naturally knows how to do, so she must have learned it from somewhere, namely a book.

And how could the book possibly have been written?! Only someone witha compatible talent would be even capable of knowing the spell, let alone recording it! And do you really expect a large portion of unicorns to record all their spells? Besides, every spellbook would be tiny in that case. Not to mention, look at the latest episode. Was that written by a unicorn with a talent for banishing mirror pool clones? And what if a unicorn can't find a book written by somepony with a compatible talent? Do they just not learn more than telekinesis? And what about Pumpkin Cake?

No, this interpretation just doesn't make sense.

Ahoy hoy.

@ Rainbow

You make very good points. Incidentally, this prissy element of honesty could be a chef if an EP.

It occurs to me that honest isn't just about telling the truth. It's about keeping (or trying to keep) promises. Something to bear in mind I think.

I didn't say every Christian would say that, but my Christian 'relatives' would. They's kinda going towards fundamentalists by now. BTW I'm also Christian and don't think that.

I honestly don't think that the clones were sapient enough to actually have a moral alignment.
Agreed. But we can further keep wmging that wild mass guess an evil sorcerer created them.

Here's a question I am curious about, If the CMC were to pick up Elements of Harmony, Which one(s) would each of them get?
Apocalypse: Dirge Of Swans.

You mean existing ones of new Eo H? Because I find hard to realistically conceive of new.

Ahoy, Apple. smile

I still think it would have been better if they had shown the photocopies happily returning to the mirror pond while chanting "Fun! Fun! Fun! Fun!..."

That would have pretty much solved all my issues with the episode.

Also, yeah, Rainbow, I forgot to say, good ideas. Your bearer of Generosity is a lot like Carrot Top from the Lunaverse. I like her a lot.

CMC elements? Scootaloo beng loyaly seems appropriate, but I don't think the other two match teir sisters. Maybe generosity for Applebloom and kindness for Sweetie Belle?

About Celestia: Is she also a pony? I can't remember if I asked that already.
The one trait that seems to separate the ponies from the other sapient quadrupeds is their cutie marks. (There was a preview commercial that aired during the season opener and two adult horses showed up in it. One of their flanks was visible, and didn't have a cutie mark.) Celestia and Luna have cutie marks.
That would be running a punchline into the ground.

If we were going to make up new Elements for the CMC, I'd say Scootaloo is Bravery, Apple Bloom is Intelligence and Sweetie Belle is, um, Squeakiness?tongue

I didn't realize that Twilight was using that huge boulder to seal off the tunnel until someone else pointed it out. That's embarrassing.

So, do you think another unicorn with sufficient power could possibly move the boulder and access the mirror pond?

@Sereg Talents are wide in their coverage, and tons of spells can fall into multiple talents. Using Rarity as an example again, she can perform a gem finding spell, as could a unicorn specializing in geology, despite the fact that their talents have absolutely no overlap. Also, none of this precludes specific spells that don't fall into any category, like the mirror pond spell.

As for Pumpkin Cake, this is about talents, not cutie marks. Pumpkin can be talented at something at that age, easily.

[up][up][up] Yeah, but all the unicorns in Ponyville have a "Twilight'll do it" attitude.

Post of the Day #201

We shall see. I do hope we get some more Fluttershy. After Pinkie and Twilight, she's my 3rd favorite pony now. Flutterbutter. Flutterbutt. Flutty. Fluttz. Fwuddershy. Fwundershy. FLOOTERSHAI.

So many nicknames I have for her. yay.

Yeah, I don't think Twilight TOLD Ponyville about the pool, and most ponies are still too scared to go in the Everfree anyway.

The mirror pond spell isn't unicorn magic.

It's easy to forget that in Equestria, damn near everything is magic of some form or another.

Seems Valve "accidentally" made Team Fortress 2 available to anyone using the Linux Steam client, whether or not they actually have a beta key.

I thought TF 2 was free to play anyway?

Unicorns as far as I see general learn a few cantrips and a signature spell or two associated with their Talent/Cutie Mark. They should be able to learn magic "out of colour" so to speak, but it's generally much harder. They'll also have an easier time learning new spells associated with their talent.

Either that or they just aren't interested. I could probably become a great artist if I were willing to put serious time into it, but I'm not and hence never will. On the other hander, I'm really great at things I am interested in i.e. my CM

Yeah, I think the entire thing that sets unicorn magic apart is that it can cause specific effects without the need for a magical artifact of some sort.

I kinda hope they continue to adhere to the Season 1 caveat of trying to have the ponies move and interact with things in more physiologically convincing ways rather than cheat in too many humanlike gestures ._. It's cuter that way.

I'm disapointed that they are behaving less pony like over time as well.

It would certainly be nice to see that, but as long as they don't overhaul the setting completely I really don't mind much.

I'm not really seeing a difference over time, honestly. They still do horse-like things for the most part, like Twilight trying to roll up her scroll with her nose, or Fluttershy picking berries for her picnic with her teeth.
