Celestia must seem like an awesome, incredible aunt/mother figure to Twilight.
I can imagine her during Twilights young days teaching her all sorts of cool things, then during playtime, she'd show her young charge some of the more interesting things that can be done with dry numbers and formulae when you make practical things out of them, like taking fractals and turning them into beautiful patterns. No wonder Twilight grew up to be such a scholar, she had an awesome teacher.

Well, she's seen Celestia get angry at some of the more stuck-up nobles during various sessions of court, political debate, and other things. Celestia can be nice, but like the Sun itself, she can utterly burn you if you are exceptional foalish.

Twilight didn't need to go crazy over it, but her reasons for worrying are valid. Celestia still has a last nerve. Heck, we saw her get very angry at Twilight for using magic in order to cheat her way into her weekly letter.
