Yeah, it's stifling to intellectual conversation to say that you have to like the show to post here. Where else are you going to talk about it that's on topic? It's what this thread is for. Even if his reasoning isn't exactly... clear, he's not being overly sensitive, or shouty, or disruptive at all. He's just stating his opinions, and backing them up with his... logic.

I was interested to hear from x86x that Treehouse TV has continued to not mute out the word "loser, " and even more interested to hear that they aired S2E11-S2E13 in order rather than Out Of Order.

@condottie: Now that you're back, late responses to posts from yesterday: Graystar is (or at least was) actually a real band (later renamed The Day Was Mine), and there's this piece of official fanart (as in approved-by-Hasbro-and-sold-as-an-art-print-by-WeLoveFine, at least until it was taken down from WLF).

@condot - Yup.

Well, this is a rather interesting humanized version of Lyra.

@x: So...because there happens to be overlap in the fandoms, it means that all bronies are included in that overlap?

@Perpetual: It's fine if people who don't necessarily like the show post here, I just find this particular occurrence odd because to my memory, x has never posted here for any reason aside from talking about this whole brony=Barney fan thing.

Well the only reason HWE was aired early was so that it would come out before Christmas.

Ok, time to clear something up.

Back in high school, I had Aspergers' Syndrome, which allowed me to access facilities where I could finish homework and ask for help if I had trouble with it. These were also gateways to computers used to look up information. However, the kids with "special needs" were allowed to use the computers in this area as well. And here's where it begins.

There was a student that we'll call "Ben". Now, Ben was actually quite a bit older than me, so when I initially saw him, I didn't think too much of him. But then, one day, I saw him watching Barney on one of those computers, and it all went downhill from there. He started watching Barney on these computers regularly, even though I thought it was terrible from the age of 6, and he was like 18-21, and still watching it. The amount of times I was exposed Barney through Ben was numerous to cause tramua. Thus, I wanted to expose him to "better material", like Cannibal Corpse, by sitting to the computer next to him and playing it there in hopes I he might turn into a sapient being.

Then, commentaries came along on this user named "jeremycrispovideo", who was trying to defend Barney from BlackBusterCritic and failing at it. These commentaries gave me legitimate reasons to hate Barney, so that I would be able to tell this "Ben" fellow just why he shouldn't be watching it. Still, he didn't listen and kept watching it to my traumatized self.

Then, the shit hit the fan. I checked the cable listings, with MLP coming on after Barney and Friends. I immediately thought nothing of it, but went on the internet to realize that people actually liked MLP. At this point, I was like, "Am I in Bizarro World?". Not because of the girliness, but because of the fact that people liked a show that was in such a proximity to the show that I was trying to tell this fellow to not like. Considering how the show was strictly made for toddlers, I ended up going insane considering how this could be. I still don't know to this very day.

And now you know. The trauma still haunts me..when it's brought up.

@condottiera: I was watching it this whole time, but hating it this whole time. Made it up to the middle of Season 2 within 1 year and 4 months...because of the station. NO, I DON'T WANT TO BE WELCOMED! *hides in the corner of the basement*

I looked at some more of that artist's humanized stuff, and I like how the Scootaloo one has pony Scootaloo on her skateboard.

[up] I have Asperger's, too. I had similar experiences in high school.

But if he liked Barney, that is not anyone's problem but his.

And, what order a network not directly associated with the people making the show chooses to air something is pertinant....how? Answer, not at all.

not liking something, fine, making some huge leap in logic that would have Miko Myazaki going huh? quite another

@x The problem in your assumption is that the show is intended for toddlers. In the US, it airs on the same channel as Batman: The Animated Series and Transformers. Definitely not a preschool channel. It's not the show's fault that a preschool channel picked it up in Canada.

[up][up][up][up][up][up]That's not trauma. That's extended mental conditioning. You screwed yourself over by taking such a thing seriously for most of your life, and now it's ruining your enjoyment.

[up][up]Yeah, Batman: The Animated Series is pretty awesome.

I also like Batman: The Brave and the Bold, but for totally different reasons.

Yeah, unless you have a legit phobia of mascot character or somethings, I'm at a loss as to how "I saw this other guy watching Barney" qualifies as trauma. I mean, sure, it's a bit weird, but there's no reason to keep him from enjoying it. Not to mention that implying that he isn't a "sapient being" because he'd rather watch Barney than listen to Cannibal Corpse * is, to put it bluntly, utterly absurd to the point of being almost offensive. Just because he happens to like a show you dislikes doesn't make him any less of a person or give you any right to force your preferences on him.

Also, as noted, MLP is not made for toddlers. The primary demographic is more in the 6-12 range, and even then the writers have explicitly stated that they wanted to make it watchable for adults who'd have to watch it with their children.

And in any case, one show airing after another doesn't really mean much of anything. It's like refusing not to watch the news because you don't like the fact that it airs after Seinfeld. And if you don't like that association, watch the show somewhere else.

[up][up][up][up][up] Yeah, I was thinking I should eventually post more of my findings of these associations in this WMG.

[up]No, it's the very fact that he kept watching it and my exposure to a childhood terror of mine was a lot, lot, lot more than I'm comfortable with so that's why it counted as trauma.

Also, no, the Seinfeld example does not apply because Seinfeld is a critically-acclaimed show with great influence, and the news, is just the news, nothing inoffensive.

@x: I can no longer tell if you are being serious.

Either way, you have a natural affinity for Insane Troll Logic.

[up] You know, when I was a kid, I was traumatized by the Zizzer Zazzer Zuzz at the end of the Dr. Seuss alphebet book. That was purple, you know.

[up][up][up]But why do you find the idea of somebody watching Barney so horrifying? Did the show scare you or something?

[up][up], [up] See, this is what I'm talking about. I'm not sure where he genuinely just has a really bizarre train of thought, or whether he's intentionally being weird to confuse people.
