I think it still manages to be hilarious because the plot isn't that important in itself. It's not terribly deep, but it's very funny.

re Mega Man: A really, really long-running series of games. Including spinoffs, of which there are many, there are apparently somewhere around 46. They have also had anime and cartoon appearances, I suspect there was at least one comic book, and there are two bands basing their music off the series.

And notably to the derp pic in question, an American cartoon with poor production values based on poorly-localized Japanese games and written half-assedly by people who didn't even play through them far enough to realize who was actually a bad guy.

They were OK, too.

Not a huge fan of that show, though. It was OK.

But I was also using hyperbole. If I wanna choose the real best fake band ever, I would really need to think about it.

Also, my little sister was a huge fan of Ember McLain till she found out she wasn't real.

Plus, everybody was gay for Chip Skylark.

And ohmygod, Greystar!

Vinyl Scratch rocks pretty hard, too.

you know, while reading Past Sins, I got to wondering. Does Nyx really count as an OC? It would really be more accurate to call her an age regressed NMM with amnesia, and later NMM suffering form a major case of Amnesiac Dissonance.

It's like...she's not really an OC so much as a case of...Alternative Character Interpretation?

Bah, curse fanfiction for not being a hard science(or even a soft science) with well defined terminology!

I think she's mostly considered as such because her personality bears pretty much zero resemblance to NMM. At best she's an OC Stand In, as her personality is pretty much entirely invented by the author.

And now I have the idea of an episode where either Celestia or Luna gets amnesia, forgets they're a princess, and the mane cast have to keep them under wraps while they figure out how to fix it.

I'm pretty sure that "nyx" is the ancient Greek word for night, too.

I bet it'd be something like this:

Pinkie = Bacchus
Rarity = Aphrodite
Applejack = Demeter
Rainbow Dash = Ares
Fluttershy = Artemis
Twilight = Athena

Does that seem right?
