the same way all hoofed creatures do in real life, the young foal comes out ass end first. I know horses and their ilk, and I'm pretty sure all other hoofed creatures, develop in the womb with their legs all pointed forward, near their head, so they have to come out ass end first to ensure nothing gets caught on anything.

Mrs Cake is kinda chunky ... and with the way horses show pregnancy she really wouldnt have shown much I'd bet unless you saw her from straight on.

Yeah, she's fairly chubby to start with, and as a result she might not have even started to look pregnant until the last few months. And we don't see the Cakes with enough regularity to say that she's even been on screen when she'd be visibly pregnant.

That just looks bizarre.

Shetland ponies have a gestation period of 11 months.

I wonder if the show keeps the gestation period at a 'human' 9 months, or does it go full horse?

I think horses have a longer gestational period because when the foal comes out it has to be able to get up on its feet and run with its mother within hours of birth.

From the look of the Cakes' foals, they are more like human babies in their level of dependency... so I'd have to say closer to a human gestation is the more likely scenario.

I don't have all the answers, man.

Yeah, the ponies are generally humanlike enough that I'd assume it's a 9-month gestation.

Anyway, finished reading Past Sins. It certainly is a step above most fanfiction, I can see why it's received the praise it has. A tad too serious for my tastes however, it needed more Pinkie being meta.

But more important than that, I have reached my final verdict on the most important issue regarding this fic: Is Nyx a Mary Sue?

My verdict is...Neigh.

But it was a close thing, Pen Stroke was walking a thin line.

I come to this decision for 2 reasons.

1. Nyxs origin and reason for being as powerful as she is and having the effect she does on the plot is properly fleshed out and not some Ass Pull. A defining characteristic of a Mary Sue, at least for me, is that they need to come out of nowhere, with no explanation given at worst and a generic "I'm the dark and troubled long lost son/daughter of [important/powerful character in said verse]" at best. Nyxs origin is fully explored and reasonable given the setting.

2. None of the other characters acted too OOC round here in order to facilitate the plot. They came pretty close with DT though, I was tempted to call Ron the Death Eater on the whole Everfree Forest thing they did. But they still we jerks to Nyx when she apologized at the end, so they at least stayed consistent through the story.

Why can't more pictures be in a style like this.
