@Orion: Nah, it's just weird. You're good.

@Fallen: We're not sure either. I think it's just a really weird train of logic.

@x: All that means is that MLP got shafted and dumped on the wrong network. The show itself is not intended for toddlers, regardless of what network it airs on. Forget Barney, forget the network. Look up the show on youtube, watch it, and judge it on it's own merits. If you still don't like it, fine. Not everybody will. But don't hate it based on some tenuous connection between the show and some other show you don't like.

I think we have already presented sufficient evidence to refute his claim of universal Guilt By Association. If you think otherwise, x, feel free to present a rebuttal.

On that note, here are ponies humanized in the style of Gravity Falls.

Love that show.

[up][up][up]You clearly haven't seen some of the other logic I've presented to you, like how they're present on the same channel, its themes, its fans, some of the material I've been presented with, and other things that you have clearly missed.

[up]Well, it could be a lie for all I know, and she is also the person that animated Quest for Camelot, and wrote that Bendy episode of Foster's.

@X I ask you again if Adventure time aired in history channel. It becomes a historical show? And why?

[up][up][up]Well, considering that, Adventure Time would definitely not be suited for History Channel to begin with, considering how no one would expect cartoons on the History Channel.

[up][up]No, don't call the mod. This is getting interesting. I really am trying for you people, but you cannot sympathize with my frustration.

@x We've already stated how the same channel point is irrelevant. Themes of friendship are also irrelevant, considering that friendship is one of the most common themes in all of fiction. Would you mind providing some examples of your other points? What are these "other materials" that you speak of, and what did the fandom as a whole do to associate itself with it?

I sympathize with your frustration, as I've talked to plenty of people before who simply don't get something that seems so obvious to me, but that doesn't mean that I agree with you.

@ x it doesn't matter. If it aired by accident?

The same question remains

Well, Stevie, we have a special guest in the forum today.

He has postulated that we are all fans of Barney the dinosaur because MLP airs on the same network.

New guy's trying to pull the Animation Age Ghetto card. Or at least that's what I'm getting out of it.

Okay, I'm going to stay out of this.

Partly because I have never watched an episode on the TV, and therefore don't care.

[up][up][up]I am not trying to pull that card already. I really do think that animation is a medium that can capture any audience. Hell, I just recently started watching Powerpuff Girls again. Unfortunately, my experiences have stopped me from enjoying what could have been a socializing time for me.

Librarian, he's not new. He's been at this on and off for fucking months now. It's irritating at this point. He cannot disassociate MLPFIM from Barney and preschool.

Guys, stop this stupid argument right now or I'll derail the topic into a stupid argument that we've already had ten times before.

Be nice and don't have this argument, or the scary Aliroz will get you.

He still hasn't answered how friendship + purple protagonist = Barney, because by that logic, so does Courage the Cowardly Dog.

This entire conversation was worth it just for this sentence.

@x: Okay, let's take these one by one:

  • Present on the same channel: As otherwise noted, airing on the same channel has precisely nothing to do with the quality of either show. MLP could air on The Food Network and the quality of the show itself would be exactly the same. The other thing is that this is only true in one specific case; on the networks where 90% of the fans live, there's no Barney to be seen, and the vast majority of the adult fanbase watches it online anyway. So this point is null.

  • Its themes: "Friendship" is so vague that you could make an argument for pretty much any show ever to be about it. It's a thematic archetype that exists in a lot of works. It's like saying that Star Wars and Alien are the same because they both take place in space. Just because two shows have similar themes (especially one so vague) doesn't imply any connection whatsoever.

  • Its fans: As far as I can tell, this is just bullshit, because so far you've provided precisely 1 example of bronies even referencing Barney, and even that is mocking Barney anyway. If anything it agrees with you. Also, the fanbase's largest image host doesn't have a single Barney image that I can find. So unless you can actually show me some people who like both shows, I call BS on this point.

  • "Some of the material I've been presented with": I'm not even sure what this means. You haven't shown any of us any indication of an overlap in the fanbase outside of that image I mentioned in the previous point.

Since these points have been made repeatedly, and you haven't directly answered them in any useful fashion, I'm just going to drop the conversation and go get some food. When I return, I will forget this conversation ever happened. Except for the thing I quoted, because I find it hilarious.

I'm onto Episode 13 now.

@X sorry Sorry if I am being too cold. But you have to understand you are making assumptions based on biased assumptions. Perhaps if you heard our sode of the story you could change your perspective, after all that's what a good dialogue has.
