@mars: I like it. It's fun. Whose idea was this Drinking Game in the first place, anyway?

Okay, that "Take a drink" pic is allready starting to get annoying.

[up] Now you know how God feels.

Why don't you like fun?

But seriously, I love that picture of Bat Derp with the bomb. It's on my desktop.

I like fun as much as the next colt, but I also knew this would get old quickly.

@JT The point of the show is "there are plenty of ways to be a girl" which includes things that are "traditionally girly." Otherwise Rarity's character wouldn't exist. Nothing about romance is actually opposed to the show's philosophy, and I'd be more worried about the show sending that message that romance is bad rather than the show encouraging it. The fact that it hasn't straight-up shot down Spike's crush (aside from him getting pretty thoroughly friend-zoned) is a good sign there.

Evening everypony. What's going on?
Yeah, Andromeda is heading for you. You got over 9000 years until it collides.

Does everyone forget that Batman is an incredibly grim, perpetually serious, extremely unhappy man who has no interest in anything remotely fun?
The 60's Batman series (and its glorious Batman: The Movie) and Batman: The Brave and the Bold disagree with you.

I've always been partial to the idea of Soarin getting interested and asking out Applejack, and having Rainbow deal with her jealousy on the matter. I imagine she'd be stalking them throughout their date getting angrier and thinking up ways to sabotage it (before the inevitable moral less on course).
Earth & Sky did something similar as a subplot. Rather than RD trying to sabotage their relationship, AJ nearly sabotages it herself because she's very critical of some of Soarin's shortcomings.
MCs on the paper with their murder metaphors need to deal with the literal resurrector.

@Perpetual: Like I said, I'd be fine with it addressing the issue, but at the same time I wouldn't want it to be a recurring element because I'm just not interested enough to see it come up repeatedly. If one of the cast went on a date or something, great, but I wouldn't want them to introduce a new character just to have a romantic interest. Even with the skill involved in this show, there are very few cases I've seen where a romantic subplot is introduced to a mostly non-romantic work that didn't either seem tacked on or turn into a Romantic Plot Tumor.

And yeah, let's not drive the drinking gag thing into the ground. These kinda of jokes are funnier when they pop up unexpectedly.

I don't know. I just put a caption on the image.

Btw, I was thinking of Comics!Batman. 60's Batman hasn't been a thing since the 60's.

I'm playing my own version of the drinking game right now. Here are the rules:

  1. Pour self a rum and coke.
  2. Take a drink whenever you feel like it.

Too many rules.

But seriously, the DJ outside my house just played Whiskey in the Jar. That is astronomically unlikely.

Pony+Dragon=horse/gryphon/dragon/lion/bat thing. Okay, makes sense.

Still not silly enough for Derpy though.

Not much of a drinker. Oh sure, I don't mind a cider every now and then but I don't drink on the same level as Pinkie.

I don't want romance in the show either.
Life is simple: it has no nontrivial normal subgroups.

I'd be cool with it. I'm all for more well designed characters. MLP has kind of a weird schism as it is. The Mane 6 (and Spike, I guess) are extremely well rounded, deep characters with a lot of thought put into their personalities and interaction. But nearly all the other characters are one dimensional and extremely exaggerated, flat characters. I would love to see some new recurring characters.

What about that 'Big Mac's best friend is AJ's secret crush' idea I had?

I'm not sure Big Mac has any friends.

Rarity is very flawed, but still good at heart without being a Jerk with a Heart of Gold archetype. Even though she's far from my favorite, she is an interestingly constructed character.

That reminds me. For a while the image caption on Jerk with a Heart of Gold was YOU'RE GOING TO LOVE ME!!!. It's a shame they took it down. It fits so much better than the current caption.

[up][up]If that's a problem I'd much rather have them flesh out some existing characters rather than add more characters to split up the screentime for the non-manes. If I had the choice, I'd much rather see Big Macintosh, the Mayor, Cheerilee, the Cakes, etc. get developed more than getting any new characters.

[up][up][up][up]Oh come on, that's not fair to Big Mac. It isn't like we see him that often, I'm sure he has plenty going on when he's not on screen.

I love the word "schism." Being embroiled in one is worth being allowed to say it.
